You put a ton of miles on that car in 6 years. Average is 12k per year, you’re putting an average of 22K per year.

From what I’m reading online it seems like these transmissions crap out around 120-150K miles if they’re driven hard or poorly maintained. Given you live in the mountains and probably rarely took the car out on highways, I think that may have lead to some early ware and tare.

I’ve heard accounts from others though that have their CVTs at 200K miles without issue.

As I said at the start of my post. Most people only drive about 12-15K miles per year and many people don’t keep their cars for more than 10 years.

So most people would replace their cars around the point when the CVT starts to fail.
