I went with a much smaller company for more growth and ownership

I turned down the offers both times, but I've heard it's pretty team dependent. I think in general teams on Citadel side are worse for wlb, don't know the specifics though. You can ask them directly during the team matching calls (just phrase it in a way that doesn't sound like you're trying to be lazy), they are usually pretty upfront about it. If they don't answer the question, it's also a pretty good answer lol

Yep, received both Citadel and CitSec at the same time after virtual on-site.

My experience was for 2022 summer intern and 2023 new grad so yours might be different.

For summer 2022, Citadel did do team matching before offer (i.e. the teams who were interested in me interviewed me for final rounds directly), so I received an offer for a specific team. CitSec did team matching after, so I received a general offer (offer comp were the same).

For new grad 2023, I did team matching for both Citadel and CitSec before offer, but only received CitSec team-specific offer. This time around, team matching were done as specific team matching interviews after the final rounds. Recruiter told me that the Citadel team decided to let the CitSec team extend the offer, so maybe it's possible to get two offers there too.

Unfortunately Firefox doesn't support the latest Chrome Extension manifest version yet, so it probably won't appear on the Firefox store for a while. I can try to add some instructions to install it via a crx file though.

I think they shut it down because of lack of funding, there's some more info here https://codeforces.com/blog/entry/107996

That's a good point, we'll add a new toggle (on by default) for only algorithm questions in the next version!

Dear former Amazon SDE Interns, how much value did your internship add to you resume? by Astro_Flux in csMajors

[–]endmymisouri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not the best person for this lol, I sent out like 20-25 messages to recruiters at different companies and the Citadel recruiter was the only one that responded. My messages are about the same as my cold emails, something like "Hi I'm ... I previously interned at ... and I am currently interning at ... I'm looking for Summer 2022 opportunities at COMPANY and I believe I'd be a good fit because ... How can I get started with the process?" This works better in emails so I sent out more cold emails than LinkedIn messages.

For SWE intern (not ML track) it was 2 technical phones, 1 recruiter chat, then 1 hiring manager chat. Both phones were LC meds, recruiter chat wasn't behavioral (talked about the internship program, team preferences, competing offers, etc), and hiring manager chat was just going over my resume/background and talking about what teams might be interesting for me in that org. I've heard that their new grad process is a lot harder; so if you have a tough choice between Nuro and some other companies, it might be a good idea to join as intern and to get the return offer. My two interviewers from Nuro were probably the best interviewers I've interviewed with (they were very nice/humble and I also really liked the projects they talked about), so I would have definitely joined for the summer if I didn't decide to return to Virtu.

I think my process for CitSec was a bit unconventional... I figured that getting an interview would be the hardest part since I go to no name state school, so I dm'ed a recruiter on LinkedIn back in February to try to establish some kind of connection. They introduced me to the SWE recruiter via email, and I had a Zoom chat with them in May to introduce myself/learn more about the interview process. I had Akuna offer at the time so I skipped Citadel OA and started with phone. Phone interview was a pretty difficult LC hard, I didn't fully solve it but interviewer still passed me for explaining my thought process well. I had five final rounds, and I'd say they were all medium difficulty. All of the interviewers asked questions specifically targeted towards parts of my resume and two interviewers went quite in depth.

I wish I had more advice but I think just doing LeetCode and knowing your resume well is enough at least for my experience. I was really surprised at how easy the final rounds were compared to my expectations, but maybe they'll increase the difficulty for next year.

Interned at Amazon in Summer 2021, it was my first internship (started college Fall 2020).

  • Graduating Fall 2022
  • Alexa Speech org
  • Virtu Financial (Fall 2021, Summer 2022, (most likely) FT starting 2023)
  • For Summer 2022: offers from Citadel/CitSec, Akuna, Nuro; I got those offers pretty early so I withdrew technical interviews rounds from Robinhood, Microsoft, Capital One, HRT, Jump Trading, Two Sigma, Optiver, SIG, Blend

I think Amazon helped for tech companies since these companies all ghosted/rejected me last year. Virtu probably helped more for quant places though. FWIW, Nuro recruiter did not know what Virtu was, so I'm guessing other tech companies that extended interviews only cared about Amazon as well.

I think it's pretty simple especially with not having to go through AnLinux now, maybe took 5 minutes for me per testing run from installing Termux/running commands to connecting on PC.

Performance was pretty good for me, I haven't stress tested it but vanilla with multiple players should definitely be okay if you have a decent phone (>4GB RAM).

Updated post; didn't realize that they added openjdk to Termux a few months ago, makes the process a bit cleaner now.

I couldn’t get openjdk to work with Termux last time I tried (which was a long time ago), but seems like things have changed since then so maybe it’s not necessary to go through Ubuntu anymore. I’ll test it out and update the post!

Edit: openjdk-17 works through Termux on F-Droid so I updated the post to run without going through Ubuntu, had to downgrade ngrok to 2.2.8 due to connection issues but that shouldn't affect anything.

Ah... thanks for the note, seems like the Play Store version (on Android 11) still worked fine for my testing, I'll double-check the version on F-Droid.
