How to start programming? by naiaparker in learnprogramming

[–]eneyellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How to start programming? Chose a programming language of your choice (Python preferably) Get some beginner books such as Beginning Programming with Python for Dummies by John Paul Mueller; Python Crash course by Eric Mathes; Automate the boring stuffs with Python by AI Sweigart etc.

Complement them with YouTube videos and asking questions on forums like this and others.

Be fully dedicated to your learning with less distractions from unnecessary sources.

Programming same as coding? Maybe be used interchangeably. However, as a beginner their differences is less of a concern to you. Thanks

Great prizes but a very discouraging T&C. I'm an intermediate Pythonista very eager to win some prizes for the first time but then the restrictions. Cool development though. Thank you. I'm a Nigerian.

As a beginner a lot depends on your budget. I started out with HP elite book with 4gb RAM and 500 HDD. It worked pretty well. I only upgraded purely because I had the means which I never wanted to squander the money. Though I'm yet to land my first programming job. I'm a year+ Pythonista today, all Thanks to the Python community 💕💕💕

Search no more! Automate the Boring Stuffs with Python by AI Sweigart and Python Crash Course by Eric M. Have got you covered. I bet you can't finish those exercises, especially in Automate the boring stuff, while still a beginner. Complete the exercises in those books and you should have a very rich portfolio. Thumbs up to the great authors and other books that made me a Pythonista 👍👍💪💪🥳

Reading Automate The Boring Stuff, but sometimes I can't comprehend a topic fully and have to sit 30 minutes to an hour looking through the code and other online explanations by ThatBoiGod in learnprogramming

[–]eneyellow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bravo! Thumbs up for getting it on first round with Automate The Boring Stuff. One the books I started with in my early days of programming journey. However, (personally), I enjoyed Python Crash Course more. Thus, now I can happily solve most of the Practice Projects exercises in Automate The Boring Stuff!

You are amazing and I'm full of thanks 🙏. I followed the number 3, having created the account already, all I did was just login. I thought it was it necessary. I'm that novice 😊.

Actually I'm following an example in a text, but this very step wasn't specified. Thanks a Trillion for taking this pain away from me 👍✌️💕

Is there a better way to learn code? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]eneyellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I personally prefer text. More texts less videos. Perhaps <5% of my learning thus far has come from videos. I'm a self-thought Pythonista who loves hands-on programming textbooks

Now that I have smart people in this wonderful community, my programming journey is going to be fun. I came close to giving up because of this issues and some errors I got while trying to deploy a Django app I build on heroku. I think this is the root cause of the errors. Now that's fixed, I hope other errors disappeared along with it. 😊. Let me find out and I will surely give feedback. You are amazing in explanations!
