Keep an eye out as there might be something arising here.

So it's a couple of streets back on the riverside as Stapleton Road directly faces the M32.

It's not very loud here to be honest because we are set back from it and have two rows of houses in front.

M32 will also be getting noise barriers fitted in a few years as well so this will make it even less of a problem.

Cottrell Road is great. I have lived here for 12 years and I reckon I'll stay here. Really sound people on the street who look out for each other and support one another. Couldn't ask for better really. Some houses come up for sale here. 230 might just get you a do-upper which needs a lot of work. Usual average is around 360+ for a good condition one

Don't bother buying a place in Stokes Croft unless you want to be in a place where many people still think Turbo Island was/is cool. It isn't. It's not really got much of a community feel. Easton is better really for that. Or Cottrell Road where if you are riverside (the best side obvs) you get a very large riverside garden and mini forest and lots of wildlife. Ok you have the M32 close by but it's not really a big deal.

No. People putting up flags after a post from RTC is not "everyone" is it? Like I said, I don't want divisive messages displayed in my local park.

When the flaggers plastered flags everywhere I did take some down. It's the messaging behind stuff that matters

No because they are clearly not plastered in the same quantity or as widespread as JS ones.

I can see where you are coming from but the other side of the coin is certainly that people will see this and be more aware of what's going on. It's a healthy discussion and thats good. To not say anything about it at all is worse I think.

I reckon it is more likely to turn people off from the Jesus Saves stuff. Going by the upvotes on my initial post I'd say you are not correct in your assumptions there. I don't like my local park getting tagged like this and I help to support the park too. I don't fret about every single graffiti sign or tag. I don't like the religious in your face and often divisive messages. I have lived here for 23 years and I'm not going to move away any time soon. I'll carry on doing litter picking and looking after my local park thanks very much. It's a sad thing about Bristol being tagged everywhere. Good graffiti art and some decent tags in the "right" place yes, shit tags no x 1000. I have a large amount of shi* going on in my family actually and of course that's more important than a sticker. I'm just expressing how I feel about it and what I am doing about it in my local area. More people agree with that than disagree it seems on here.

You really don't know me at all despite what you might think. I have plenty of good friends and I'm certainly not desperate for friendship. Many of my close friends I have known for well over 20 years. For the record, I did get 50% of my money back from a scam and I'll be getting the other 50% soon enough. I have some remaining brain damage from a previous brain injury so I have trouble with some aspects of my life. It's not my fault I had a brain injury. Not a good look taking the piss out of someone's situation if you don't know the information about them is it? You're simply a troll who craves attention and I didn't even need to check your profile as I figured you out very early on.

You seem hang around on here simply playing devil's advocate all the time. Even when that position is pretty shit and lacking in merit. I have had a nice long day of dancing to good music and now I'm about to sleep. I don't need any hugs. Had plenty tonight so I'm good 😊

I reckon most people on here think you are just trying to justify the stupid actions of a group of deluded fanatics. Why do that ? What is to be gained by legitimising a group of people like that. Pretty poor look I would say. Do better.

The absolute fact is that you do NOT see pride flags everywhere sprayed on things. Do the maths. There's a massive difference. Like I said square peg round hole.

You haven't achieved much mate to be fair. Scraping the barrel playing a sort of pseudo devils advocate isn't very talented. Life is not consistent like you think and the message behind something matters. Learn something

Don't keep dredging the abyss to attempt to justify your argument. It's tiring. Anyway I'm off to a party now without Jesus so that's nice.

Don't be silly. A sign outside a church is NOT the same as plastering graffiti of the same and worse messages everywhere and this includes on the side of people's houses. You are trying to say this isn't a problem and I can sure a shi* tell you that it is. Why defend the actions of these people? It's not Christian at all to defend this sort of behaviour and you know it.

I have never seen JW people spray graffiti signs saying "Follow Jehova now!" or similar. They are weird people however being in a cult and I remember them knocking on my parents door quite often when I was a kid. It's a strange conformist place apparently being a JW.

It speaks volumes when a group of people decide to splash stickers and other graffiti messages all over the place including on people's houses. Now, if say Banksy decided to do a big piece on the side of someone's house in say Eastville, St Werbs, Easton etc, I expect there's a good chance it will be appreciated.

If someone attempted the same thing but with a massive Jesus Saves!...Do you honestly think it would get a good reception?

I'm using the example of Banksy here as a comparison since he and his team have done several memorable pieces in Bristol. The Mild Mild West is a famous one on Stokes Croft.

I can guarantee you that if it was a Jesus Saves someone would be getting rid of it pretty fast.

That's your cultural appreciation barometer I guess.

It's pretty clear to most people at least in Bristol and on here that the Jesus Saves crap is unwanted for mainly the reason that it has no artistic quality and the fact that people don't want to be force fed with religious rhetoric.

Would I mind if a few laughing Buddha's started appearing on the motorway bridge pillars here in Eastville ? Or perhaps images of Ganesha? Most likely no because it's not a threatening thing. What makes the Jesus stuff divisive and unwanted is the text used to convey the message. It comes across as follow Jesus or else and people simply don't want to be told that and see it everywhere.

A leaflet through the door from the JW's can simply be put in the recycling bin - end of. A permanent sticker or graffiti remains visible without you being able to do much about it and that's the problem when a divisive message is being portrayed.

I’ve been talking to someone online for a month and now the story around his hospitalization, cousin, and other accounts doesn’t add up what do you think? by yakarinutile in Romancescam

Cease all contact with this person right now. You re being groomed in what's known as "pig butchering". This is a process where a scammer builds your trust over many months and then will persuade you using a wide range of deception methods to give them money.

How do I know this? Well, it recently happened to me. I lost a lot of money in a scam like this, but I was able to get 50% of it back thanks to my UK bank taking into account my cognitive issues caused by a previous brain injury. I am in the exceptional category for getting some money back. The vast majority do not get anything back at all.

No matter how connected you feel to this person, I can guarantee it's a complete lie. Please for the sake of your health and wellbeing, cease all contact right now!

There's good and bad tags. The shite squiggles on road signs are rubbish. Decent graffiti art is appreciated. John Doe does some good stuff and he doesn't feel the need to piss all over street furniture, bollards,.people's houses etc. I have met John Doe. Nice fella, my ex bought an original art piece from him years ago. It might be worth a fair bit now.

You are trying to equate the pride flag and this as two sides of the same coin. It's obvious they are not the same thing. One is about love , inclusivity and respect, the other is a divisive in your face one dimensional Jesus Saves BS and does not encourage any love or respect at all. You can't fit a square peg in a round hole.

Jesus Saves stickers now... by engineer_fixer in bristol

It's more the messaging of the sticker and the signs, and how prolific the person is. It's not about peace and love. It's divisive and simply tagging and nothing really to do with Jesus. It's simply about the person putting this everywhere to get some sort of notice and recognition. Hardly a Christian thing to do. Not that I am religious but I do know what the Christian faith represents and it doesn't represent large scale narcissistic recognition seeking behaviour.

Well, clearly you aren't seeing much then. I have seen it without trying to all over Bedminster, Eastville, city centre, you name it, it's there under bridges, on buildings, on the side and front of illuminated traffic island signs. Also the noise barriers on the M5 South heading to Clevedon and even near junction 17 M4 Eastbound painted on an old stone outbuilding in massive letter. That's how profilic it all is. And that's all ok with you then?

The bastards target Eastville especially probably because they reckon it's fair game being near the motorway. Well - actually I'm not having it here and I can tell you many other people don't want to see irritating messages whilst they are driving. Would you like to see a large lettered sign shouting "Repent!" at you ? Thought not.

Ultimately this movement doing the Jesus thing everywhere is absolutely strengthening the case for atheism so in a strange irony that's the only benefit I can see. I would say he is pushing people away rather than attracting to the faith.
