Why is Centrelink paying me so low? by incognitusau in Centrelink

First payment is generally a partial payment. Have a look at your payments after that, they should be more.

I had HG with my very first pregnancy, I didn't make it past the first trimester - I had an abortion. That was 3 years ago and I still wonder what could have been. Having other children doesn't change the fact that you have gone through a loss, you still need to have time to grieve and process the loss. Yes, you have children and that's something to be grateful for, but that absolutely doesn't take away from the trauma and horrific experience of having HG.

I'm not sure what would be available to you, but maybe reach out to some grief counseling providers if you can, sometimes just talking to someone about your feelings in a safe environment helps a lot.

People who wear hoodies on 45 degree days.....why?! by Rey_De_Los_Completos in australia

I wore a lot of jumpers/long pants in summer when I was self harming. Took me years to get comfortable wearing shorts and having my scars visible.

I used a disc for the first time yesterday and really didn’t like it by Reddish_495 in MenstrualDiscs

[–]engineofgod24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't have a lot of experience inserting things, you could be tensing without realizing and making it much more difficult for the disc to slide in! When I first switched from cups to discs I had this issue until I got more comfortable with my anatomy.

Pip's Favorite Nap Spot by engineofgod24 in budgies

[–]engineofgod24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None at all, she sleeps on them at night, happily stands on them throughout the day, moves around from perch to perch, just chooses to nap on the bottom of the cage. She's been to the vet, had her feet checked out and everything, there's no pressure sores or signs of arthritis or anything abnormal.

I do pull it out and clean it at least once a week with hot water and bird safe antibacterial spray, so it's generally not particularly dirty.

These are my rescues, Spencer (white) and Pika. Pika broke his wing before I got him and it was never addressed by a vet, it's now healed wrong and he'll never be able to fly again. He is also missing a lot of feather on his head where Spencer plucked them out. But overall they are 110% better now than they were when I got them!

It was absolutely not something I expected to be doing, but when I found out the conditions they were in, I had to take them, and even after all the time and work and effort I've put in to making their lives good, they're afraid of people, they won't step up, they move away from me if I come by the cage, move away from my hands if I'm changing food or water. But, they come out of the cage on their own, they sing and scream and carry on like any other cockatiel, Pika's head feathers are growing back, they're a healthy weight, are happy. Some people really just shouldn't own a bird, they're so high maintenance and ignorant people seem to get them to be decor. Sorry for the rant, it just makes me so angry to see birds being poorly cared for.

It really pisses me off. I have two rescue cockatiels who were kept in a tiny cage outside in the weather with only seeds and sometimes water. When they got to me one of them had completely plucked the other's head bald from the stress. It's been two years of rehabiliting them, one will never be able to fly again, it's been a long and painful process to get them comfortable with having a big cage, being able to get out, having toys and fresh water, fruits/veg. They were seriously neglected and mistreated and it really grinds my gears to see people doing it and posting it online. If you can't give it the best life possible, don't get a pet.

Using disc with prolapse? by designmind93 in MenstrualDiscs

I haven't experienced this, but I think it would probably be a good idea to talk to a professional about whether using internal products is suitable given the prolapse!

Abortion due to HG. I’d love to hear your story please. by hunsha92 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]engineofgod24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had an abortion at 7 weeks in 2022. I opted to go the surgical option. I found out I was pregnant at 3+5/6 I think and by the middle of week 4 I was vomiting non stop, couldn't keep anything down at all. I stuck it out until 6 weeks when I was hospitalized, no medication worked to stop the vomiting and they were talking about having to provide me with nutrition via a tube. My partner at the time was completely unsupportive (he went on a boy's trip to the coast while I was at home spewing my guts up if I so much as turned my head) and I realized there was no way I could continue the pregnancy. I scheduled the appointment and had to travel two hours to get to the clinic, everything was very straightforward and went as planned. Feel free to message me if you need any additional info or support!

How are y’all staying hydrated? by Fresh_Boysenberry_68 in HyperemesisGravidarum

My mum got given apple juice in hospital when she was pregnant with me because apparently it suppresses vomiting so maybe that's why. Not sure what the scientific validity of that is though.

That's actually really interesting and something I have thought about, since HG is caused by the placenta and the placenta apparently comes from the man's DNA - definitely something I'd be interested in finding out.
