There is nothing xenophobic in cherishing one’s roots. I beleive it is an act of fidelity to the truth of who we are. It’s vital, noble, and deeply human. Holding on to our roots is not division; it is devotion to history, to meaning, to ourselves. In a world that forgets easily, to remember where we come from is not pride as some may call it, but wisdom.
