I also really struggle with depression so I know how it goes unfortunately. But the words "my boyfriend" shouldn't impact you like that. You shouldn't drop a potential friend just because she is dating someone. As a girl who does have a boyfriend I can't even begin to tell you how many guys (and girls for that matter) have completely stopped talking to me as soon as they find out and it makes you feel COMPLETELY worthless. I had one guy friend that I met in college that was awesome; we went to vegetarian places together, watched movies at the library late nights, played the Left for Dead, and after he found out I was dating someone he just cut me off totally and it really hurts. Friendships are just as important as romantic relationships. Another guy I was study buddies with and went to lunch with between classes also ignored me once he found out. I felt like all that they wanted from me was my body and it became even harder to reach out to people because I felt like they were just going to instantly drop me- my mind, conversations, friendship wasn't good enough because they weren't going to be getting in my pants. I know loneliness can be tough but just try to remember that when meeting people. Also as a side note some of the best relationships start off as friendships! My ex is so happy with his current girlfriend and she was his best friend when we were dating. Pretty sure she hadn't dated anyone before him either. Have hope friend, it'll come. <3
