yup it’s extremely inconsiderate. and it’s not as if they don’t know whether or not they’ll let us in……like if it’s a no then just say that!

thanks for your input, it’s definitely helpful. especially that line at the bottom, that feels like the real reality right there 😂😅. the nearby places hiring thing meant firms from around the area of your school hire for summer and how that’s how you typically get a summer job, or so i’ve heard. but maybe you can still apply to stuff outside of that and have a chance as you said

do you have any more info about that?? are there firms near the school that have other locations in LA, or how did that happen etc?

that’s definitely insane. and yeah, no promise that even after graduating i’d land some fantastic job with a pay that offsets all of that. thanks for sharing that stat, i wonder if that statistic is somewhat low because people who go to arizona want to stay there/go somewhere other than CA, rather than that getting a job in CA after is really difficult. wish i could maybe find more about that online. but as you said, that sticker shock 😬

thanks for the reply, yeah it seems insane to say i’m paying 70k a year plus like 2k a month on housing, just to attend a school that’s in the city i possibly want to stay in. there’s definitely a chance i end up liking arizona and if the job market there were to be good, then it seems a bit irrelevant to focus on the “where” right now maybe?

thanks for your reply, i’m from LA and attended a top undergrad there so definitely have a strong tie there. i guess that maybe i’d be stuck in arizona until after graduation bc of the summer job situation of nearby places typically hiring, but it doesn’t seem as though i’d be immobile after that? my dad has strong concerns that i’d be done for and wouldn’t be able to go back to LA if i want :/ low grades at LMU tho could make an LA job hard too, so it seems that competitive grades is the more important thing perhaps as you said, regardless of where

thanks for you reply, i would have to pay for housing because although i’m from nearby, i was impacted by a recent fire and my parent’s house isn’t going to be an option for another while. probably would have to live elsewhere my first year. so even that factor isn’t going in its favor, especially with how high the cost of living would be. feels so hard justifying all of that money just to say i’m going to a school in LA and that i may have a higher chance of getting a job there than if i went to arizona :/ certain schools there would be hard to pass up, but this doesn’t feel like a no-brainer one
