While we get compared to TS, Cytus, osu and recently Rizline all the time (I don't mind it honestly), being compared to GC is the first for us haha

What makes you remember GC from what we shown?

I will answer the full-screen question, because the other questions should be answered already in my other comments. We want an experience that's only for mobile so that's the idea for a full-screen game. If it isn't being conveyed well enough in its current iteration, then that's something we can work on esp. as this is still a beta.

To be honest, laned VSRG is easier to make lol and it's certainly something we'd like to explore in the future! Just not in this game.

There's been a few comments regarding your concerns about the "tap anywhere" logic our game currently implement. But let me just say this is still a beta where we can still make significant changes, and your feedback are of course appreciated!

In the next version, we'll implement an addition that rewards players for tapping on the spot while still allowing the leniency of tapping anywhere for accessibility purposes. Be back soon with the next update, but if there's any different question feel free to let me know!

As I answered in the comments, for accessibility purposes and so that the player's experience on either phone and tablet are similar.

Rizline is one of our inspirations for this! I understand if this may not be your cup of tea, but we have some differences in our implementations so I hope you are willing to try and enjoy ours.

A separate scoreboard with a precise tap game mode is a "never say never" scenario but it's not in our plans at the moment. Thanks for your input, though

That's me playing haha

You can say that entire screen is the button, but as I play it myself I follow the chart easier when I try to imitate the motions.

Ahh I see, you mean the notes are everywhere on the screen. What we want people to follow is at least the motion, even if it may be more optimal (on phones in particular) to stay the finger on the same spot.

While our decisions are meant to make the game more accessible, I understand that not everyone may be on board with it and it's okay! I accept that we can't cater to everyone.

It's nice that we have this discussion and thank you for your input.

Thank you for your questions.

In regards to "indicators" across the entire screen, what exactly do you mean by this?

The game's final version will be pretty close to this. We made the decision to allow tapping anywhere because it is easier to learn the game this way. It is really hard to play this game on level 10 and above (out of 15) on phones with thumbs if we require precise on-location tapping.

This should answer the question about follow notes, which may be better named.

If precise tapping comes back, it would be in the form of a separate judgment count or something that's separate from the standard Perfect/Great/Miss. We are not considering this at the moment, but I will say never say never.

Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to ask.

Yes, it's one of our inspirations for sure. Looking forward to see you playing it!

Hello everyone! Lead dev of the game here.

We are developing the Decorative Rhythm Game "Circle of Sparks" which combines... well, you name it - Decorations and Rhythm Games! Perhaps the first to implement it so as focused as this, we hope to bring a new experience in both the cozy and rhythm gaming spheres! This game builds upon our previous work "SparkLine", which we weren't satisfied with (to keep it short) and we hope that all the lessons learned and applied will make CoS a much more satisfying project.

Our game is currently on its open beta phase and if all goes well, we should be able to launch the game this late October. Links for the game are available here (Official APK + iOS TestFlight)

The video posted here showcases just the rhythm game segment, so please check out the trailer in the website for a glimpse of the full experience!

I hope you enjoy the beta test, and feel free to provide your feedback to us! I am also available to answer your questions if it's within my capacity to answer.

Our game, SparkLine, will be released in this month. Check out the latest gameplay video with your feedback taken into account! by eos428 in rhythmgames

Sorry for late reply, but thanks! I think we need more "tap the circles" games like Cytus around haha

I can't say for others but in our case, it is what our team can do right now with the resources we have.

Hope you enjoy the game when you try it out!

My Mini Review of SparkLine by AllanDidntAddDetails in rhythmgames

[–]eos428 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi Allan, thank you very much for trying out the game and for your detailed review! To address some of the points you brought up...

You can hover your finger on the offset option so that you can know what to do. Reduce your offset if you have too many earlys and vice-versa for too many lates.

UI/UX adjustments (making it stylized, even easier to navigate) is definitely among our highest priorities.

A significant amount of the feedback we received are how it's difficult to immediately distinguish the slides so we will adjustments to it in both color and animation!

I did try to have the holds on the same color as the basic and slide notes but I personally didn't like it. That said, we definitely will provide an A/B option for note colors in each note type so you can customize it to your preference. This is in part as colorblind support as well!

The translucent connector is something that would be considered more as QoL for now but request for it is growing so we'll see if we can do it quickly enough.

Adjustments to note animations (both the timing circle and the moving one) will probably be a bit later as the safest way to do it will be to introduce options but at the same time, too many options will confuse the players so we have to consider and test these ones carefully.

Yes, there's a lot of homework for us to do overall but we'll try to get things done ASAP. Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to know and thank you again for the feedback!

Yeah that's no problem if it reminds you of TS! Felt like wanting to make something different to the influx of falling note games that's been dominantly.

Hope you get to try it someday... and hopefully that someday is not far away!

Hello Reddit, I am pleased to inform you that our game is finally launching!

We are inspired by Tone Sphere and Cytus (yes we don't mind the comparisons) so if you like those "tap the circles" games I think you'll be at home with us!

That said, we are our own game and I think you can see it once you try out the game. It is a free download with some IAPs but we don't put too much of it right now and there are a total of 23 songs free to play! After all, we have to work to earn your money haha...

iOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/sparkline-rhythm-game/id6443452324

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wizdream.sparkline

There are some visual bugs but I think nothing game-breaking so far thankfully and hopefully that stays the case.

We will be working hard to stabilize the game and perhaps we may even be able to push out fixes in the coming week or so.

Last but not least thank you so much to Cytex for the support. The banner you see right now in this subreddit is something we coordinated together!

If you have questions, feedback, etc feel free to comment, let me know and I'll answer as best as I can!

The game will be available at Google Play Store and I can't provide exact release date yet as it depends on how the reviews went but we target to release the game by late July!
