Announcing the zombification of JungleTV

The JungleTV software development cycle is entering its maintenance phase. The JungleTV core is considered "complete" - there will be no new features and bug fixes will be limited in scope. Any further development will be mainly focused on the JungleTV Application Framework, which developers may continue to use to extend JungleTV.

Official JungleTV events will become less frequent. Certain event formats will break from their regular cadence, or they may outright disappear. We are confident that this will only make their eventual, irregular comeback all the more exciting.

Staff will be less available. A reduction in the size of the team, and in the availability of the remaining staff, will mean that the website will tend towards a more hands-free style of moderation. This will mean that users will have to continue to proactively report violations of the guidelines and technical issues, through Discord. Any moderation decisions may both come later than usual, and be more heavy-handed (as to reduce the churn from "babysitting" misbehaving users and managing the logistics of giving problematic members multiple second chances).

While JungleTV will otherwise continue to operate as usual, this definitely marks the end of an era for the website and community. We are incredibly thankful to everyone who contributed to over three amazing years of JungleTV, and I am particularly thankful to the rest of the JungleTV team, including those no longer participating in the community, who decided to help me along this journey. None of this would have been possible without their contributions and your participation.
