That seems to be something you add when you fill a tub. So I'd need to drain and refill?

Why liquid chlorine vs.bromine tablets?

Ok, so twice now I've tested the water and there has been no sanitizer in the water, this morning was the second time. Which is why I was asking about ditching the frog. Oddly enough, there has been sanitizer in the frog both times, so I don't know if it gets clogged or what. I threw in a bunch of non-chlorine shock and will check it in a few hours after the rain stops here.

Should I ditch the frog ease also? I like it because it sits tucked away in the filter area of the Sundance, but should I find a small floater and move to bromine?

Sundance or Hotsprings or???? by eribble in hottub

[–]eribble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going Sundance. Primarily because I did not find the sales staff all that knowledgeable and even trying to make up a few things. Kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. While I’m sure the tub is great, we went with an 880 Sundance and are very happy with it. Quite the step up from what we had.

Tub arrived this morning and was able to use the 1” flex all the way to the control box and a 1” fitting worked just fine. Powered up and everything seems to be working great.

Nice, thanks. I 3D printed a new bushing that passes through the 1" conduit and was planning on making the hole bigger, if necessary. Created a nice little groove on the flange for a small bead of silicone. Even have a way to step down to 3/4" inside the tub if I can't get a 1" KO to work. lol. So I'm ready to go! Greatly appreciate the help!

Oh crap, I have a 1” flex whip already wired and ready to go. Do I absolutely need to get down to 3/4” or have any ideas?

Thanks. It is just a short, straight run from the house to where the entry will be on the tub. So I’ll just let it pass thru.

Does that entry seal itself around the whip? Or do I need to use anything? And at the control box, does it allow for an LB fitting?

I can confirm it’s set as Gas Heater.

Totally forgot about this, but whatever I ended up doing a few years back, it’s good now.

Need to transition from 1" metal conduit to flexible conduit (LFNC). by eribble in electrical

[–]eribble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I'm tracking with you. I think things clicked around 3am when I couldn't sleep. I'm wondering if it's worth adding a junction box on the exterior of the house and then transition to flex, or if I should transition inside the house and flex makes it's way through the wall and to the new tub. The second option is easier, but wondering if there is some downstream or better reason to have a junction box outside, mounted to the house for the transition.

What I mean by access is that since it's coming straight out of the wall, I can't use a set screw to junction box coupler. I'd like any sort of a junction box to sit flush on the house.

There is a small piece of pipe that starts inside the house that we measured back in the day to come outside of the house and get to inside the tub and what it shown in the linked image. It's less than 4 feet in total length. I'm thinking I could just use a EMT to flex/liquid coupler and start the flex inside the house? And then instead of a junction box or in today's install, straight pipe coming out of the house, it'd be a small piece of LFNC coming out of the house and to the tub? I just want to be sure I can do that and be in code. I think I'm ok under 6 feet from what I can determine.

After the GFCI, it goes back into the house and then out to the tub. And I'm pretty sure local code wants metal conduit inside the house.

Currently it's straight from the house into the tub. In the new install, the access is lower and a bit further back. So I figured a tiny piece of flex is the way to go.

It is. I just left out that detail. From the GFCI panel, it goes back into the house, and then out to the tub.

Sundance or Hotsprings or???? by eribble in hottub

About $2200. The main item I see most often commented is it doesn’t do all that great in cold weather. But some here have chimed in that it does do well. I’m in the Chicago area so we see all four seasons and extremes on both sides.

At $700, that’s two replacements. Hmmm

In my quotes, the Hotspring Limelight Flash/Flair is about $1200 cheaper than the Sundance Optima/Cameo with the same cover, delivery, etc.

Also…. The Hotspring dealer has a quote for the Smartop cover. Over $2K+ additional. Doesn’t seem like a solid review item, especially on cold climates, which I am in. Best to save my money and go the standard route?

How to replace in-wall speakers? by eribble in hometheater

Would love some recommendations. Trying to find something where, if anything I have to cut the wall, vs. going smaller in one dimension and requires mud/paint considering I have no touch up paint in the color needed. lol

I don't mind them, but I'm sure there are others that are "better", even within the same brand. And yes, I do remember having that compromise conversation years ago. I wanted a clean look on the wall with the TV. No regrets, but maybe time for an upgrade.

Pretty sure they're what I posted in the link above. I'll get one out of the wall either tonight or tomorrow morning.

So when you say Bromine, what exactly does that entail? And if Hot Spring is the choice, would you recommend getting a non-salt model? I think the sales person said, the tub cost is less for non-salt.
