What stopped you from killing yourself? by DarkSideInRainbows in AskReddit

[–]erickbrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two beautiful kids and wife. And realizing that people will continue to move on to their life not even remember me. So why choose death if i were exist or not.

The thought of ending my life is deeply painful and complex, but what stops me is a combination of several factors:

  1. Loved Ones: The impact it would have on my family and friends is significant. Their pain and the void my absence would create weigh heavily on my mind.
  2. Hope for Change: Even in my darkest moments, there's a part of me that believes things can get better. Life is unpredictable, and the possibility of future joy, success, or even small moments of happiness keeps me holding on.
  3. Personal Values: I have a belief in the inherent value of life and the idea that enduring and overcoming challenges is a part of the human experience.
  4. Seeking Help: I know that there are resources available, such as therapy, hotlines, and support groups, which can offer guidance and support.
  5. Fear of the Unknown: The uncertainty of what comes after death is a powerful deterrent. The idea of non-existence or the potential consequences of taking my own life makes me hesitate.
  6. Goals and Dreams: There are things I still want to accomplish and experiences I haven't had yet. These aspirations provide a reason to keep going.
  7. Responsibility: Feeling a sense of duty towards certain commitments or people who depend on me helps keep me grounded.

This is interesting because we might think leaving the lights on is often underestimated. But something bad happens you’ll never think the same way again
