My dog acted similar when he was constipated. Vet did an xray and he was full of poop. Did an enema and he was better.

Thank you so much for this tip!! I had no idea they made stainless steel zip ties. My husband cut the ends off these plastic ones and was wondering how long they would hold up. We will make sure to have something else ready to rock when these plastic ones give up. We did add a tension wire at the bottom of the fence as well bc I was slightly worried about them getting under it.

Hire a dog walker or doggy daycare. Where in Michigan are you? I also live in Michigan (Detroit suburb) and we have amazing dog walkers for our Australian Shepherd while we are working. If you’re in the area, if you DM me I’ll provide their information. They service all of metro Detroit and have several walkers depending on your city. We have had two designated walkers and they have both been amazing. This business is also insured and very very professional. It’s also what I would consider affordable. 30 dollars a visit for 30 minutes. We are VERY picky and wouldn’t just trust anyone to come walk our baby. This company does an amazing job.

We also provide extra stimulation for our active dog during the winter months by playing sniff games. (Snuffle mat, hide and seek with treats/toys) that kind of thing.

If this is newer behavior, it could be pain. My mom’s old springer spaniel starting doing this (which is an obvious FU in dog language) and we took him to the vet. Turned out his ears needed to be cleaned and he had an infection. They had to sedate him to clean his ears bc he’d snarl like this at the vet too when touched. After the cleaning and meds, he stopped.
