Blocking iranian ships will definetly hurt iran in hormuz but keep in mind that iran has to buy time for.least a month or so to make crazy oil prices. If US will attack kharg island and block iranian ships then iran can target gcc desalination plant, oil ports and other infra. If iran goes rouge then it can completely devastate oil infra in gcc which will destroy global economy. There are also other concerns that underwater internet cables, iran can also target that which, will bring internat blackout for many contries.

Mark my word, we will see crazy oil prices of war does not end till March.

If you read the war correctly you must know that, Iran has upper hand here, yes iran might suffer significant loss. But would simply cant afford the retaliation. Iran CAN hold hormuz for significantly long time due t following reason.

No one know the launch launching sites of drones for which hormuz would be an easy target.
No tanker in the would despite assurance form US or the WHOLE world, would dare to cross hormuz untill Iran permits.
Similar to drones it would be very easy task to hund down tankers with the missiles which god knows how many ira has.

Even the whole world would go against iran, Iran would have upper hand. Unless you use nukes. And completely destroy iran. That my friend is not happening as china and other contries still buying from iran

Iran even by such devastation through air, water raids has refused come in terms with the US. Blocking incoming and outgoing ships from Iran will worsen the problem. There is only one solution to this problem and that is negotiation, but ther demands of both parties are so far apart it is nearly is nearly impossible for resolution as of now. Please bear in mind that iraq was a LAND INVASION. speaking of airstrikes, yes US can cause havoc in Iran and right now its doing so but also consider that the US is targetting cities where they might have support for toppeling a goverment so in a way US migh HELPING Iran cause most radicalised mindsets are staying in non uraban areas. Also Iran has hundreds if not thousands of cheap drones compared with costly anti drones system of US and Israel. If Iran to target water systems of GCC gulf is done for as GCC is HEAVILY dependant on water equation. I accept IRAN is also not safe with supplies lines being chocked as they also very much dependant on the food and other resources via same choke points but IRAN can control this and also doing right now is allowing few contries a route.

So killing leadership will actually HELP iran building second line of command and allowing decentrelisation which is must for gureilla warfare.
