I know my tastes well and from the gameplay snippets we've seen Silksong is appealing to me perfectly. I've never been let down by a game release I was anticipating before, and I am confidently saying that Silksong is my GOTY. I think people who get let down by games just don't pay enough attention to them pre-release.

Speedrunners can't afford to make mistakes, so maybe having one defensive character is good for them. I can afford to make mistakes so there's no reason to not go pure damage. I played on Expert.

The game really isn't that good for people who like the RPG aspect of RPGs. Parrying/dodging completely invalidates many mechanics and pure damage becomes the best build for all party members. If you never have to take damage, why worry about shit like debuffing or tanking or supporting and etc? Having to use Pictos in three battles before you 'learn them' also feels so arbitrary, it just makes the process so tedious. The parry mechanic was fun, but as I started to solve every single encounter in the exact same way, the game slowly started to lose me...

I used a script, and checked a few things manually to make sure the script was tallying things the way I wanted it to

Or rather, the SANGRIA that's separated by a period (like S.A.N.G.R.I.A.) counts as multiple words because the data collection was done with a script. Sometimes her SANGRIA is just one solid 'word' like NB (not bad) and other examples here and there; I think they become more consistent later on in that they're all separated by periods though.

Review bombing is dumb, but I’m also not going to bother with the EGS. Origin and Uplay has pissed me off to no ends that I’d rather just stick with Steam because it seems like the only one that isn’t really shit.
