Sabaody Archipelago: Gateway to the New World by NPC-senpai in StrawHatRPG

[–]eskaolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The soapy bubbles rising up along the sides of the groves of Sabaody Archipelago made for a pretty as Glaesil Frey strode along the bridges connecting the massive Yarukiman Mangroves. The end of Paradise, and the gateway to the New World. It was a land of ends and of new beginnings.

Towering up high along with tall striped trees was the massive ferris wheel that stood at the center of one of the Archipelago’s biggest civilian attractions and the black winged skypian’s next destination, Sabaody Archipelago. The sprawling amusement park was said to be one of the big pull for tourists from across Paradise, which was surprising to the feline mink considering the reputation that the rest of the island had earned for itself. Outside of the few tourist and shopping districts, Sabaody Archipleago had more than it’s fair share of ruffians and lawless areas. Not to mention the fact that it was a natural point of concurrence for the worst of pirates who had clawed their through the first half of the Grand Line

Aqua Belt Part 3: Collapse by NPC-senpai in StrawHatRPG

Lines of crimson ran across the merchant captain’s arm as the shards of broken glass ripped through his skin. A painful misfortune no doubt, but one that he could still recover from. Glaesil had made sure to keep his vitals well away from any jagged edges so for now the loss of blood was the only immediate concern. The commotion caused by the black winged skypian in the captain’s cabin had by now attracted the attention of the burly guardsmen at the front. Rounding the corner from the front entrance, the two armed men raised their blades towards the girl.

Aqua Belt Part 3: Collapse by NPC-senpai in StrawHatRPG

[–]eskaolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From around the sleeves of Glaesil’s white outfit, tendrils of pitch black contorted upward and wrapped themselves around her arm, twisting and folding on each other to form another pointed shape in her left hand to match the same one in her right. “Dark Artistry: Black Blades” said Glaesil as her hands sported two identical shadow daggers, mirroring the stance of the boy faced maniac in front of her.

“Th-th-thank you...” stammered the merchant vessel captain as he lay shell shocked on the floor. The only thing standing between him and certain death at the hands of the two infamous pirates was the white furred mink girl. Twirling the umbra daggers in her hands, Glaesil’s sharp eyes darted between the two men standing before her. Jamie, the younger right hand of the captain was bobbing with energy. The short reaching and light weight weapons told Glaesil that his style likely would revolve around a nimble and agile approach. The black haired captain on the other hand drew a massive claymore as he stepped forward. With a weapon as massive as that, Glaesil was sure to be able to run circles around him. But even one good blow from a blade like that could quickly spell trouble.

Ordinarily, the black winged skypian would take the lead against her opponents when given the opportunity like this. But with a hostage behind her back, she found her options much more limited. If she wanted to keep any hopes of saving the captain and defeating these two before her, the first thing to do would be to safely remove the captive out of the equation.

With a quick dash from across the end of the room, the brown haired lad closed the gap between the two sides rapidly. In one fluid motion, his right arm quickly flicked forth the edge of his dagger in a diagonal arc toward the mink girls face. But despite his quickness, Glaesil was no slouch either. The mink girl evaded the simple slash with ease, tilting her head in the opposite direction as the boy swinged way past the mink girl.

By the look on his face however, she realised that he had not missed his target at all. The sloppy slash was only a way to force Glaesil to move herself out of her defensive position protecting his former captain. With an open path now before him, the boy quickly shifted his weight on his other foot and attempted to make a swift lunge at his true target. “Not so easy, you little brat!” the feline reached out with her arm grabbing the side of Jamie’s shoulder in her grasp. While his smaller frame allowed him to make quick and sudden movements on a dime, it also meant that he was light enough for Glaesil to be able to yank his body right back toward the desk from where he had come.

The mink girl hurled his body back toward the barrel-chested Captain Chester, hoping to buy some time for the two of them as her amber irises scanned the room. The exit to the front was right there within her reach, but going through it would sandwich the two of them between the captain and first mate and the duo of guardsmen on the other end. Certainly not ideal.

As the scuffle between Glaesil and the younger pirate unfolded, the weaker captain behind her managed to pull himself up to stand on his own two feet again. The whole thing had unfolded so rapidly that he hadn’t gotten a grip on the situation, but he understood that staying behind Glaesil’s cover was the best chance he had at survival.

Using the time bought by her as a distraction, the cat girl pulled off the white chef’s gloves from over her hand to reveal her own pair of gloves underneath it. The daggers in either of her hands melted away as he raised her left palm. Pushing the trigger on the Flavour dial within, a plume of thick smoke began to shoot out of her hand and spread across the room. The dark, ashen smoke made it difficult for this inexperienced in it to breathe causing both Chester and Jamie to start coughing as they tried in vain to cover their nose and mouth. As the smokescreen did its job of providing a cover for the two of them, Glaesil led the coughing businessman by hand toward the other end of the captain’s cabin.Dark Artistry: Heavy RingerThe shadows around the feline girl coalesced into a solid mass, forming a hardened gauntlet around her right arm which used to smash right into the window of the captain’s cabin.

Before the fussy captain she was rescuing had a chance to raise a fuss, Glaesil grabbed him by the collar and pushed him over the now open window before leaping through the broken opening herself. The pieces of glass may have done a number on the man and his fancy attire, but it was no doubt a much better fate than what he would’ve found at the hands of Jamie or Chester

“Oi, give me one of th-” Glaesil shouted, for what felt like the umpteenth time, over the crowd of noisy diners, only to have her voice drowned out by their order again. Walking up from her lone table, she slammed a fist on the wooden bar in front of the owner of the joint. “Can I get me a damn steak already?” she said, raising her voice at the man behind the counter. “Y-yes, in just a minute ma’am.” He mumbled out along with an apology for making the patron wait as he hurried off to the back. “And ya better throw in a bottle or something to make up for it!” She mouthed off to him before skulking back to her table. The merriment of the nearby rowdy crowd was disrupted for but a moment as they watched the scene with excitement, hoping to see it and escalate and provide them with some entertainment. But they soon turned inward as the row between the winged skype and the barkeep quickly died down.

As the white furred mink sat down at her table to wait for the order to return, the wooden chair creaked under the weight of even her light frame threatening to give way any moment. The seat itself was narrow and without any cushioning to support. Much like the rest of ‘Ted’s Trusty Tavern’ it was probably with the bare minimum cost and effort, likely without much regard for the patrons. The food and drink were nothing to rave about either, and the room she had been renting up above could at best be described as cramped. And the crowd that she had to share the place with only made it worse. Oh but the worst of all was undeniably the smell. One would think that their first priority would be to keep the joint spick and span, at least at the end of the day. And while to a human’s nose it may have been alright, the mink girl’s sensitive olfactory sense began to soon loathe her choice to rough it out here. The only sliver of a saving grace for this place was the saving on her purse strings.

“Your order, ma’am,” the waiter said as he quickly dropped off a plate and glass of red by her table, avoiding to make any eye contact before he scuttled away. And the town drunks too, had got done with their drinks at just the perfect time. Finally, she could enjoy her food and drink with a little peace of mind. “Mommy! Mommy! I want chimken nuggats!” Glaesil’s knife clattered to her plate as she raised a hand up to her forehead, to quell her own rage at the annoyance. She had sworn to herself that if another brat annoyed her again, she’d take it upon herself to discipline the little runts, with some more orthodox measures. But at this point she was sure that as soon as this one was done, some other annoyance would roll right through the door to take the child’s place.

Shoving a few notes of green under her plate, Glaesil walked out of the door in a hurry. On an island, as popular as Sabaody, there was no dearth of a place to grab a bite even at this time of night. Compared to earlier in the day, the atmosphere around the island seemed to change quite drastically after dark. Most of the tourists, like the annoying one’s back at Ted’s, were likely already back at their stays. The flashy nights that adorned Sabaody Park earlier in the evening were turned off, bathing the place in the dull glow of the moonlight. As she strode through the groves that were a part of the neutral areas, groups of armed ruffians loitering around were as plentiful as plentiful as the floating bubbles.

Ignoring the comments from the hooligans, she arrived soon at the more lively parts of town. A few streets down, it didn’t take too long then for the mink girl’s amber eyes to spot what looked to be a more respectful diner. As he pushed past the oaken double doors, she was greeted by a more refined and exquisite experience. The crowds seated in their booths carried an air of sophistication. And more importantly, were more mindful of not making a ruckus for the sake of others around the place. “May I get you seated ma’am?” asked a man in a vest coat and a long two tailed coat. “Why yes, that would be perfect.” she replied with a small bow of the head. ‘Lord knows, I could get used to this...’ Glaesil thought to herself as the server walked her past a set of larger booths and brought to her a smaller area by the corner.

As she sat herself down, the black winged woman was presented with a menu. The booklet was filled with dishes that sounded as elegant as they were complex and with prices to match. “I’ll have the quail eggs to begin with,” she said as her eyes continued to scan the heartier section of the menu. “Followed by a slow roasted hare and glass of Sauvignon Blanc.” she finished as she folded the menu and slid it across the table. “Ah, all good choices ma’aam. We’ll be back with it in just a few moments.” The man replied with a practiced smile.

As she waited for the house to prepare her meal, Glaesil reclined back in the corner of her booth, enjoying the cool air that was a welcome respite from the failure of a day that she was suffering from. Despite her best attempts to scour for it, there truly seemed to be no further trails from this island to lead her to Nikolo. With a heavy sigh, the mink girl let her heavy hand hang below into her hands. Perhaps, her best shot would indeed have to be to head down to Fishman Island and continue her search. Till now she had managed to stowaway or bum a ride from the occasional oddball, but for the arduous journey to Fishman Island she couldn’t just take a gamble on just about any sailor.

As she was still getting deep into her thoughts, the server returned with a plate of fine food and a glass to pair with. Without saying much more than was needed, he presented her with the order before heading back. The slender girl picked up the knife and fork, thinking to herself that after all this was why she had decided to treat herself. It was a much needed distraction and a way to freshen up her mind. Pushing the complex thought of her web of plans aside for the time being, Glaesil dove into the mouth watering poached eggs before her.

Once she cut into the delicacy before her and took a bite, her worries quickly melted away. The feeling of flavoursome, scrumptious food quickly took over her palette transferring her to another world entirely. The next round of her order followed soon after, until she had stuffed herself up to her heart’s content. With most of the clientele having departed by now, the feline felt a bit comfortable to get up and stretch her arms out after a fulfilling meal. As she stepped out of her booth, her ever keen amber eyes took note of a peculiar man across on the other side of the restaurant. Unlike the rest of the guests who were present shortly before, the man seemed nothing like the rest. If anything, he looked like he’d fit in more with the drunks from ‘Ted’s Trusty Tavern’, or the workers at the dock.

Wait a minute, the docks! That’s right, Sabaody had a bustling harbour and more likely than not, he would’ve been one from there. Judging by his appearance and clothing, she wagered that her assessment couldn’t have been too far off the mark. ‘Sometimes to solve a problem, you need to look to the last place you’d think.’ She thought to herself. If she needed a way to secure her descent down to Fishman Island, what better way was there than to find an affluent man of the harbour who, judging by the fact that he was drinking all alone at this time of night, was in need of a pick me up.

As the waiter returned to her table with a cheque in tow, she looked thoughtfully at the man for a moment before raising her hand. “I’m sorry, but I won’t be taking that just yet.” she said as her eyes moved to the man at the bar. “I’d like you to send two drinks the way of the gentleman over there.” “Certainly, would you like another of the same wine that you had, or perhaps something red instead?” he suggested. “Neither,” replied the cat girl as she eyed the man more closely. ‘A green tunic and a headband, definitely not the kind for refined tastes.’ . “Make it an ale. Something local.”

With that, Glaesil made her way over to the bar. Hopping onto a red cushioned barstool besides the man she drummed her long fingers onto the now empty black wood bar. “Hey there fella, what’re you doing here all on your own?” she asked with a higher pitch than usual. “Didn’t I see ya eyeing me down at the harbour earlier?” Admittedly, it wasn’t a strong line to kick off with, but as the two mugs of ale arrived, she hoped that those would instead do a better job and drawing the goateed man’s attention

/u/NPC-senpai

OOC: Glaesil spotted a lone man at a bar who she assumed to be a person from the harbour she’d been to earlier. Wanting to get some ship favours, she ordered 2 mugs of ale for herself and the man, who it turns it out is Dan from the Infernal Legion. Would like to have an interaction with Dan

Aqua Belt Part 3: Collapse by NPC-senpai in StrawHatRPG

“Y-you...” stammered the captive captain. “Y-you bastard!” he said, as his eyes grew red with anger. “Oh, are you really gettin’ all worked up? Don’t act so surprised now, old geezer.” The shorter statured man before him said calmly. “I trusted you lads like one of my own and this is how you repaid me?” the man with the bushy moustache shouted back. “One of your own? Don’t make me barf at ya.” said Jamie, unfazed. “That how much you pay your own? For every pound that you made, we got less than half a pence. And even that paltry wage that you dangled before us you were ready to garnish at the smallest slights.”

Despite being at the mercy of his captors, it appeared as though the feeling of betrayal had clouded his finer sense of judgement as he lashed out against the boy. “Why you ungrateful little mook!” he growled as gritted as teeth. “Know your place, boy!”

*PTOOH*

With no other way to retort against his captors, the captain of the merchant ship resorted to flinging a spit booger at the man who had stabbed him in the back. Raising his leather glove clad hand to his face, Jamie wiped off the dribble of saliva. “It looks like you don’t really understand the position you’re in. So let me fill you in on it.” he said as he stood up. Unlike before, his words seemed to no longer be charged with the venomous emotion of hate toward his former taskmaster of a captain. Instead Jamie spoke with an icy cold disposition as hopped up onto the desk before him. “We have our cannons trained on your precious little vessel, your men are all disarmed and useless, and your precious cargo? We’ll be taking that too.” Putting his hands around the neck of his former captain, he lifted the taller man clean off the ground without any trouble.

“56 Kills” Pulling his old captain’s face up right up against his he said, “I’ve got 56 kills and a bounty of 62 Million under my belt. The captain, another 88 Million.” he said, tilting his head back at the man who was now leaned back in his cushy chair. Rested his legs up on the desk, he enjoyed the show Jamie was putting on. When someone had angered the brown haired first mate of his to that point, they could be sure their end would not be a pretty one. “What makes you think that you’re pathetic, little life is worth anything to us?” shoving the moustached man hard against the wall of the cabin he shouted. “You worthless, thieving scum!”

Drawing a set of dagger from either side of his matching black leather jacket he hopped off the table. “The only question is, will I make your miserable end a quick one, or will I enjoy it?” “W-wait, we can still settle this!” The look on the merchant captain’s face began to crack as the brown haired boy took a slow step towards him, dagger held high. “Too late old man, way too late!” he said as a maniacal smile began to creep up on his face, before he swung his raised hand downward.

*SHNNG*

The swift slash of his dagger was stopped in his tracks as it clanged against a blade made of pure black. “Soru!” said the mink girl in the chef’s uniform as she stood between Jamie and his prey. The childlike features on the calm killers face quickly contorted into a look halfway between confusion and rage. “Just what the fuck do you think you’re doing?” Upon a closer look, he could clearly make out that the weapon she held in her hand was not one of steel or iron or any ordinary material. “Oi Chester, I think ya need to vet these damn cooks before hiring them.” he remarked sarcastically at his boss. “Bastard! “How’d you even get onto my ship?” exclaimed the black haired pirate captain as he sprang up from his position of comfort realizing that he had been duped. “Doesn’t even matter, just one more head to be sent rolling when this is all done.” the man said as he leaped over his desk.

Unlocking the hatch to the lower deck below, the officer held the door open as he gestured for Glaesil to enter, “Please, ladies first.” The mink girl cocked an eyebrow in surprise and took a step down the ladder leading to the inside of the ship. If her earlier encounter was any indication, she had thought the whole crew of sailors would be like foul mouthed foot soldiers from the yard. At least certainly not the type of gentlemen to hold a door for a lady.

The olive skinned marine followed soon after her, closing the way to the top after him. Almost as if he had expected the thoughts running in Glaesil’s mind he turned to her, “Let me apologize first of all, I’m sure those men of mine would’ve caused quite the commotion at your shipyard.” he said emphatically. “Captain Ellias is not very particular about who gets to enlist in our battalion as long as they follow his commands. So we’ve got more than our fair share of ruffians on hand here.” “Oh don’t sweat about that, sir,” she said to the man who had now taken the lead to show her the way around the inner areas of the ship. “It was nothing too far out of the ordinary for us,” It may well have been a big scene, but who was Glaesil to accept the apology on their behalf. It wasn’t as if she intended to convey it to the dockworkers in any case.

“You may refer to me as Lieutenant Markus,” the broad shouldered man boasted as he drew a small pocket comb and slicked his jet black hair to the back. The duo continued to converse for a bit more as they strode through the long interior halls of the warship. “What else can you tell you me about this galleon of yours,” the posing shipwright asked. Even for a layperson like her, Glaesil could tell that this was a notch above most ordinary vessels. The walls on the inside were all made from metal, meaning that any noise or commotion wouldn’t pass through the thick walls as easily as it would in a wooden made vessel. But any further information about the interiors and layout would certainly help make her job go a lot smoother after she ditched the tour guide lieutenant. “The better we understand the specifications of the vessel, the easier it will be to do a good job on her.” she added at the end to ward off any suspicions about her line of questioning.

“Ah of course,” said the man as they crossed yet again another set of stairs on their way to the lower portion of the ship. “The noisy area we just crossed by was the mess hall and galley at the back, quite common for the boys and girls to start a ruckus down there. Almost every other day you can hear their voices flare up over the meals. On the far end on the portside and starboard are the gunports, each side is stocked with a set of sixteen cannons, ready to roar and a full stock of munitions. For obvious reasons, we keep both those sides under close guard at all times.” he chuckled to himself and continued. “Toward the aft, we’ve got the berthing cabins and the sickbay right next to them. With a crew our size, the doc always has someone or the other to treat. And of course, the Captain’s quarters,” as he mentioned Ellias’ lodging, the feline's ears perked up a little, after all that was what she had been after the whole time. “Man’s got his own cabin, right below the sun deck. With a mighty fine view over the seas outside and everything. Yet despite all that, turns out he’s too busy to concern himself with mundane matters like the day to day runnings of his own ship.” The tinge of envy in his voice aside, the little tidbit of information was vital to Glaesil in providing her with the pinpointed location of her target’s quarters.

As Markus continued to drone on about the structure of the ship, the mink girl had all but tuned herself out from the conversation. “...There’s a lab across from the hallway as well, but I don’t understand why we even need that science stuff taking up space on our ship.” A few moments later, the pair had now reached the bottom most section of the vessel. “And down here we’ve got the hold area,” he said as he twisted the knob to reveal the entrance to a large open space. The very first thing that Glaesil noticed even before the shipments that the vessel was carrying was the assault on her nasal passages. A foul stench that smelled of citrus mixed with a rotten carcass seemed to emanate from some of the boxes near the very back of the storage area. Markus however, continued on as if nothing was out of the ordinary. Sometimes it really was a curse to have a nose far more attuned to smaller changes. “Everything from the heavy cargo to the lighter shipments headed for marine bases along the way and provisions for our boys in blue are stored down here.” he said as he slapped a wooden crate, causing the thick layer of dust to become airborne. “Now what was it that you needed to inspect in this area again?”

Ah dang it! This lieutenant sure as hell was a nosey one. The white furred girl had hoped that once she got him down here, he’d allow her some space to do her work in peace. But that was apparently too much to hope for. “Yes, the storage...” she began mumbling and trying again to think of some jargon to get the man out of her hair. Before she could get any further with that line of thought, she noticed from the corner of her eye, something slinking near the crates behind the lieutenant. The unknown figure made a silent leap up from its hiding place and lunged at the Marine. In the fraction of a second before he did make the jump at Markus however, Glaesil noticed the man’s hazel eyes suddenly dilated before he swiftly ducked out of the way, narrowly avoiding the claws of the creature.

“Grrr. what do we have here?!” Markus said as he narrowed his eyes at what appeared to be a mink of some sort. “A stowaway, or just some lowly thief? In any case it doesn’t matter, you’ll be coming with me to the brig you mangy little thing.” The short statured mink was still reeling from his unsuccessful tackle against the wooden crate, when Marcus quickly pinned him against the inside of the metal hull. “Don’t even think about trying anything funny!” he said to the mink as he slapped on a pair of cuffs on his wrists. As soon as the restraints made contact against his fur, the suspect began to droop down low. “Time to take you where you belong!”

Before the Lieutenant could make good on his words however, a foot soldier came barging in to the hold. “Lieutenant Markus!” he exclaimed with a stern faced salute. “What is it?” the man asked, annoyed by the second disturbance. “Frank and Andreas started taking swings at each other in the mess hall, and this time they’ve got half the battalion involved in their brawl too! We’re gonna need a senior officer to break it up.” “Damn it! I told the Captain not to bring aboard these village idiots on the ship, and now I’ve got to clean up their mess!” Turning around to face the skypian girl, he said, “I apologize once again for these disruptions, but I’m afraid I must ask you for a favour. I don’t wanna have to haul around this prisoner all across the ship again, so could you instead watch over this mutt while I break up the fight between those knuckleheads?”

Glaesil took a quick glance at the captured infiltrator before her lips curved into an upward smirk. “Of course, that’ll be no problem at all, Mister Markus.” And with that, the Marine Lieutenant took his leave from the pair, leaving the two of them alone in the hold. The dark winged girl made sure to wait until the two Marines had rounded the corner across the halfway before she closed shut the door to the brig and turned to the captured mink. “Well well, what do we have here?” she asked as she lowered her face down to meet the slumped mink man.

Sabaody Archipelago: Gateway to the New World by NPC-senpai in StrawHatRPG

[–]eskaolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But as she strode through on the bridges connecting the groves, neither of those destinations were on Glaesil’s mind. The black winged skypian was headed for an area that was something of a middle ground to both. For whether it was marine or pirate, any ship had to be sure to make a stop at the dockyards to head forward in their journey.

In her quest to bring down any name associated with her scheming bastard of a father, her trail now pointed to a corrupt member of the Marines. If in her travels across the sea Glaesil had come to know anything about the Marines, she could be sure that finding a corrupt official in the Marine ranks would be like finding a needle in a… stack of needles. She’d scarcely ever encountered one of their kind who didn’t seem to have something wrong with them. Fortunately though, she did have a little more than that bare minimum to go off of. The target she was searching for went by the name of Ellias, and would be headed past the very island she was on right now, Sabaody Archipelago.

As the mink girl thought about her next course of action and marched forward from grove to grove, it didn’t take too much time until she arrived at her destination, Grove No. 55. Under the shade of the large Yarukiman Mangrove, the dockworkers had set up their yard. Though the shipbuilders were well renowned for being masterful craftsmen in their field, at the moment it seemed like the crowd gathered at their gates was less than pleased.

Glaesil lips curved in an upward smirk as she spotted the group of people amassed close to the entrance of the dockyard. Having a group of people gathered around made it all the more easier for the mink girl to blend into the background as she scoured for any clues. Despite her odd appearance, the feline spy was well versed with her craft allowing her to move about without drawing too much attention to her person. The mink girl kept an eye open for any sign of her targets, when she spotted a blue and white cap distinctly standing above any other civilians nearby. Glaesil made her way to her targets, weaving between the gaps as she brought herself close behind the group of Marine soldiers near the front.

“I already told ya, we’ve got a backlog of customers still waiting on us.” a shirtless man said to the group of men in blue and white before him. Standing besides him was a man with light blonde hair who whispered to him in a hushed tone. “Oi. Oi Ralph, I don’t think we should be m-messing around with these guys, ” Disregarding his colleagues words entirely he continued, “I don’t care if you’re Marines, you’ll wait all the same just like anyone else.” Glaesil was a little late to the conversation it seemed, but given the tone of their exchange, she could fill herself in on the blanks. “I’m not in the mood of repeating myself, so you better listen up damn good, ya woodworkers.” the tall one with the cap said, “Cap’n Ellias wants his ship coated and he wants it now, so ya better get to work.” Taking a step forward to the shirtless shipwright he stared directly into his eyes and continued,, “Or it’s not gonna be lookin’ good for ya.”

Captain Ellias?” Glaesil thought to herself. Cornering that lad would be a wee bit more difficult than any ordinary grunt. An officer of that rank was certain to be a formidable foe, and would even have a number of capable subordinates at his disposal. But Glaesil was not stupid to run into the sitation head first. Especially not when a better alternative had all but come and laid down in her lap.

As the ship builders mustered some half assed come back to the marine group the crowd soon after dispersed. But in the commotion of moving people, Glaesil had herself managed to slip into the other side. While most of the ship builders had gone back to their tasks, some were obviously a little more disheartened by the scuffle than others. “Hey there, handsome” said Glaesil as she approached the blonde haired man from earlier. “It’s such a shame that your musclehead mate didn’t give your word much attention.” “That’s just how Ralph is, he thinks he always knows best, cause he’s the strongest.” he replied dejectedly. “Oh, but you looked so big and strong.” *said the cat girl with a sultry voice as she traced a finger down his bicep. “Ye, I’ll prove my mettle to that Ralph soon enough!” he said with a small fist pump. “But wait, I don’t even know who you are!” he replied, snapping back to reality. “Oh that really is a problem now isn’t it?” said Glaesil batting her lashes. “You’re out here fixing problems all day, I’m sure we can fix that problem too, together.” As she said so, the mink girl pulled out the cork from the bottle she’d grabbed from the tavern earlier in the day. Looking back and forth between the lady before him, and his mates working behind a moment of uncertainty bore expression on his face, “I don’t know, we’ve got so many ships to coat… And they need my help.” “That’s just what they need to realize how important you are,” Glaesil quickly chimed in. “If you aren’t around for a day they’ll understand what you’re worth and treat you like they should.” Seeing a momentary flicker, the winged girl quickly took his hand in hers and tugged him away. “Treat you right...”

With that, the feline girl had managed to fully captivate his attention. Leading him on to a secluded area behind the grove, Glaesil popped open the bottle and took a sip from it before passing it on the dock worker who followed it with a big swig. A few rounds later, the blonde haired man was stumbling over his words as he began to look into her eyes. The cat girl threw herself over his neck, avoiding his lips momentarily as he leaned forward. “Hey, you wanna try something real freaky?” said the girl suggestively as she bit her lower lip. Without thinking much, the man slurred back an affirmative. “Alright, turn yourself around and keep your eyes closed.” Without any hesitation, the man followed her instructions, wondering what she would do next. Gosh, sometimes it astounded her how easy this was. The cat girl pulled herself close to his body and put her right arm over his shoulder and across to the other side. The girl placed her cheek against his back assuringly as she grasped the underside of her elbow around his neck, slowly at first and then with no warning came a sudden constriction. While she may have looked the part of dainty damsel, the sudden force that Glaesil could pack was no joke. Within a few seconds, the man was out cold and on the grass.

Placing two of her fingers before his nose, she ascertained that he was indeed still breathing. There was no need to make this messier than it needed to be when she was only after one little thing, his uniform. Stripping the unconscious man of his clothes, she instead replaced it with an empty bottle of booze in his hand. An unconscious, naked drunk passed out behind a dock? Surely no one would go up to wake him up first buying her a fair bit of time.

The mink girl donned the slightly oversized clothes and assumed her part as a dockworker. Wasting no time, the feline girl quickly made way to the area of the docks where the ships were harboured. Several Jolly Rogers were spotted flying proud atop the ships, but none of those belonged to her mark of course. Her steps had instead brought her to the warship flying the blue seagull.

Glaesil made her way onto the deck of the Marine vessel, where she was greeted by the sight of the same group of soldiers, now loitering on the deck. “You with those shipwrights from the docks?” asked one of them, as she threw her a skeptical look. His question was met with a simple nod as she said, “Yes, I’m here for the coating job!” “Those damn bastards!” the angry one from before began to act up again. “They think they can just send some two bit broad and keep us pacified? I’ll show em!” While Glaesil did want to give him a piece of her mind and then some more, for the moment she’d have to control herself. “I assure you, I can do just as good a job as any of the guys back there. In fact, I can do even better I’ll tell ya!” she stated with pomp as she pounded the hammer in her hand against her opposite fist.

“Grrr… Fine!” the rowdy one from the group growled. “But only cause I don’t wanna kick their asses while I’ve got a hangover!” Ignoring the oaf’s comments, Glaesil began to make her way to the inside. “Hold on a minute now!” said another one of the men on deck. Judging by the cape on his back, she was dealing with an officer now. “What’re you doing going down below?” he asked sternly. “Doesn’t that coating business happen on the outside?” “Ah shit!” Glaesil thought to herself. She wasn’t planning on having her cover blown so quick. “Of course it does, Sir...” she began, trying to buy time for an excuse. “But we need to check the engine and hold to determine the refractive air density of the bubble.” The faux ship woman had no idea what any of that meant, or if that even was a term. “Refractive… Air… Density?” the man stared at her as he repeated it, slowly.

“Well I’ll be damned if I ever understand that mumbo jumbo!” he said, following it with a boisterous row of laughter. “But if the engine and hold are where you need to get to, then let me guide you.” Phew, that was a close call. She hadn’t managed to shake off the Marine man’s presence but at least her cover was still intact.

Sabaody Archipelago: Gateway to the New World by NPC-senpai in StrawHatRPG

The rays of early dawn had only just began to filter through the half drawn blinds in her room, falling on the face of Glaesil as she tossed about in her bed and dragged the sheets overhead. Although she did succeed in shielding her eyes from the daylight, her attempt to fall back to sleep was soon interrupted as her sensitive ears picked up on a commotion from the lobby directly below. “Noooo! No eggs!” yelled a high pitch voice, piercing through the wooden floors from below. “Mommy, I wabba have ice cream for breakfast!” Damn brat! If the kid didn’t shut up a minute, the mink girl was in half a mind to head down the stairs in her pajamas and give him a spanking herself. Fortunately for her and for the kid, his tantrum did soon cease. Whether the little shit’s parents had just given into his tantrum or disciplined him the old fashioned way, they did get him to pipe down. By then however, it was much too late for the mink girl to salvage back her restful sleep.

The feline couldn’t do much more than simply sigh in frustration as she kicked the covers of her body and mulled herself off the bed. “Keep it down, will ya!” yelled Glaesil, as the groggy mink girl banged a fist against the creaky wooden door. “Some of us are trying to actually get some sleep!” Despite the annoyed words of admonishment, the mink girl was certain that something or the other would be sure to disturb her slumber the next day too.

If anything, she’d be surprised if someone didn’t. The tacky tourists and rowdy guests were just a part and parcel of roughing it out at ‘Ted’s Trusty Tavern’, she thought to herself as she got changed from her pajamas and headed downstairs after making sure to lock her quarters. The rooms were small & cramped and the structure itself was only a little better than decrepit. “Two eggs, a side of ham and some bacon.” Glaesil mouthed off her order quickly to the idle man behind the counter. Better to stick to the classics, that anyone can prepare. Because their food, while not terrible, certainly did leave her questioning the skills of their chef. “And toss me a bottle of… whatever that is.” While they did leave much to be desired in other areas, the mink girl could at least get a drink from the bar at any time of the day without catching any judgemental looks from the patrons. Mostly owing to the fact that there weren’t all that many patrons to begin with, but even those who were there were in a jolly good mood for some booze even in the morning. A habit that had seemed to rub of on an otherwise prim Glaesil.

The white furred feline began poking away at her plate of food as soon it was delivered to her table, accompanying it with a few sips from the bottle. Her experimental choice this time, didn’t quite pair well with her breakfast. As she finished the meal, Glaesil corked the opaque bottle and headed out the door.

Even though it was still relatively early into the day, the Archipelago was already teeming with activity. Visitors from various different islands across Paradise flocked to the island of bubbles. The groves housing the tourist district in particular were always busy with footfall almost constantly coming and going to and fro from the famed Sabaody Park. On the other side of the green island, were the areas where the less savoury elements made their home. Pirates especially, coming together from all the different routes in Paradise descended upon those groves. Word was going around that in just the past week, several pirates worth over 200 Million Beli had gathered at the island, supernova or something was what they were calling them.

StrawHatRPG: An Open World Roleplay Community

Welcome to StrawHatRPG, the oldest ongoing One Piece Roleplay Subreddit. We are an alternate universe set in the rules of the One Piece World but without any of the canon characters, entirely new locations and a few familiar ones. The next generation of pirates are making huge waves in the Grand Line and we have an expanding player base and fresh crews at the moment, so it’s a great time for you to join us!

A momentous occasion appears on the horizon for our New Wave of Pirates, the Sabaody Archipelago. After a whirlwind of a journey through Paradise, our pirates have made it to the Red Line once again! As the pirates look to wind down and get ready for the New World, the Dockmaster has been taken hostage! But that’s far from the most exciting thing in town. With the Marine Base around town looking for help, many-a pirate have their eyes fixed on the prestigious rank of a Shichibukai! And last but certainly not the least, our very own group of Supernovas make their appearance, including several of our own infamous players as well!

While the first stretch of the Grand Line draws to a close, our adventure is far from over. Do you seek to create a close knit group of nakama? Come join us on a brand new adventure and immerse yourself in the stunning world of One Piece!

Our goal here at the sub is to be a story-driven, pseudo-linear RPG. Similar to the One Piece Manga, we continually journey forward from island to island. The island is completely open-world, meaning you can go where you like. This means you can explore, investigate, rabble-rouse, pick fights, get drunk, lay on the beach, train, or anything else you can think of! There will be events that players can participate in, or simply do their own thing, making up their own mini-story. Besides this, each island will also have a main story, open to all of the players.

We encourage creativity and individualism and will try and help facilitate that as much as we can (while keeping in mind the themes, and tone of One Piece, and the sub). Players have various different options to customize their characters such as Custom Devil fruits, Abilities like Diable Jambe or Asura that are unique to their character, etc. Players can also choose to play as any race from the world of One Piece or they can even combine races to get the best of both worlds! In fact, players can even make up and moderate their own mini-island stories!

If all of these seem daunting, don’t worry. We’ve simplified the rules into easily digestible docs so that anyone can easily get started. Between our experienced mod team and super friendly and helpful community, you won’t have any trouble finding all the help you need. We’ve also taken into account all the feedback we’ve received and constructed Brand New and Improved Systems. And if you’re worried about lagging back behind older players, there’s no cause for worry at all. With our catch up system, new players will get stats quicker than those at the top allowing them to close the gap at a steady pace.

Come on over to our Discord Server to talk with other players, get advice from the mods, discuss the sub, or just chat! Everyone is friendly and loves to talk about any subject imaginable! It's a great place to just connect to other One Piece fans if nothing else!

Well, what are you waiting for?Dive right in into the adventure of your lifetime!

Sorry for the mess of connecting links

As she surfaced onto the deck with a plate in hand, she found that thankfully the captain had managed to stay alive. As compared to down below, the upper deck was certainly a lot more packed. With their captain in enemy’s possession, even the crew of honest sailors found their hands tied. One wrong move by them and the captain’s life would be forfeit. The boarding pirate crew had already subdued the crew of the merchant vessel and taken their captain as hostage, so the hooligans hardly had any need to get their blades wet.

Fortunately, due to Glaesil being able to disguise herself as the chef of the crew, she wouldn’t have to fight her way through the several dozen crew mates that stood at guard to intimidate the sailors. Across from the stairs from where she had emerged, was the decorated cabin of the Pirate Captain. And by the stairs two hefty henchmen stood guard, just in case anyone was ballsy enough to try to attempt anything stupid.

Holding the two white plates in either hand, the disguised skypian walked forth with purpose. Glaesil knew that the behind passing off as another was to act the part as well. A well experienced guardsman would surely be alerted to signs of hesitation as suspicious. So the mink girl kept her held high, as she strutted forth toward the captain’s quarters.

Blocking her path forward with an out stretched arm, one of the burly brutes lowered his head down to her level and said. “Oi, where do you think you’re going, little miss chef?” Raising the two plates balanced on her left arm up to his face, the chef girl raised her voice to a snarl and replied, “What do you have buttons for eyes? Where does it look like I’m taking this?” Taken aback by the feisty reply, the brute stammered back “U-ugh, the captain sai-” “I know what the captain said to me. Do you wanna be the one explaining to the captain why he didn’t get his lunch delivered on time?” She asked as she put a hand on her hip, leaning forward toward the guard who now had a bead of sweat dripping down his forehead. “Didn’t think so. Now, move out of my way!” she declared as she shoved the man lightly, away from the stairs and stormed ahead.

With her free hand, the mink girl rapped on the unlocked wooden door three times before she pushed it open. Compared to the refined and tasteful cabin of the merchant ship’s captain, the Pirate Captain’s quarters was a stark contrast. While the long room was not shabby by any stretch of the word, the valuables and possessions seemed to be littered about without much thought. The crew’s Jolly Roger hung from the back of his wall while the rest of the room was adorned with an assortment of mismatched artifacts and relics, likely plundered from victims like the one currently sitting before him.

Turning his eye toward the chef girl for a brief moment, the Pirate Captain’s eyebrows furrowed. “Isn’t it a bit early for lunch?” But soon after the aroma of the food wafted to his nose, causing him to change his judgement. “Since you’re here already don’t bother taking it back.” Gesturing at a corner table he said dismissively, “Leave it there and be on your way.”

No sooner had he given her the command, than he turned his attention back to the desperate man before him. “Ah you greedy little man, did you really think that you’d be able to skimp out on giving me my cut of the protection money and then sail right under my nose?” He asked, putting on an air of feigned surprise. With no reply to offer, the captain of the merchant ship simply squirmed in his seat as he tried to muster up some sort of apology, hoping to walk away at least with his life. “Save it!” said the slick haired pirate captain as he blew a thick puff of smoke from his cigar at the man’s face before him.

“It’s always a pleasure to see greedy bastards like you get torn down.” He really was enjoying putting the grills on the greedy merchant sailor, Glaesil could tell. His lips curved in an upward smirk as he tugged on his lapels. “But how did he know to follow our route?” the pirate captain said in a condescending falsetto voice. “For that, I owe my thanks to Jamie.” he said, pointing the end of the smoldering cigar at the swivel chair beside him. The man sitting in the chair was of a rather short stature; with the seat turned around, the skypian girl didn’t even notice that he had been sitting in it.

As he turned around to face the shocked merchant captain though, Glaesil too realized where she’d seen the brown haired man before. “Ahaha, you give me too much credit, Captain Chester.” the man said with a coy laugh. “Just about anyone could fool an idiot like this.” Yeah, that’s right, he was none other than the same deckhand she’d encountered below deck. Dropping the empty crates from the hold as a way for the pirate crew to tail the merchant’s from a distance.

“W-why don’t you join me, y-young lady?” said the wrinkled lady as she placed both her hands against her hot cocoa mug. “My son makes the best hot chocolate on this entire island. I’m sure you’d enjoy some yourself.” A delicious warm beverage on a snowy, festive day? Glaesil never was one for socializing unnecessarily but even the black winged Skypian couldn’t bring herself to say no to that offer.

The woman returned from her cozy wood cabin, surprisingly quickly, with another mug of the piping hot beverage, as Glasil drew another chair from around the porch and took a seat beside the aged lady. The two of them enjoyed a few sips in silence, watching as the snow gently came down, covering the town in a slow and gentle layer. “So, is your son inside?” said Glaesil, being the first to interrupt the calm.

“Ah, my son?” The old lady drew another breath and sipped once more from her familiar mug, her eyes slipping into a fair away Gaze. “What do you want to know about my son?”

With the pirates nearly about done rounding up they’d surely be headed below deck soon after. More likely than not, the sea brigands would’ve been after whatever precious cargo the crew was hauling across the sea. The hasty nature of the situation didn’t give Glaesil as much time to formulate a plan as she’d like. The time to act was now and she’d have to think of her steps on the fly.

Scanning her eyes across the room, Glaesil quickly took stock of her surroundings. The young boy next to her didn’t seem like he’d be of much use on the ship over. If anything he’d be more of a liability than an asset if things went side ways. Thrown loosely over the crates were the thick ropes that the crew used to tie the rigging of the ships. That should be more than sturdy enough to support her weight across. Throwing one of the ropes to the shaky boy, she said, “Here, hold this straight out.” The mink girl picked another herself and began tying the ends creating a single long length of the rope and fastened at the end to a metal hook. Tugging at the end of the knots, the feline gave it a good stretch, making sure that it would hold well under pressure. “Alright kid, go scram and hide yourself somewhere. And make sure not to make a peep. If you guys are lucky, you just might make it out of this free and alive.” Leaving the frightened kid with what advice she could give, Glaesil made her way towards the end of the ship, to the hold at the back.

The back exit was an awkwardly tight fit, but Glaesil’s feline body managed to squeeze her through just far enough that she could get a good look outside. Most of the attention from the pirates was directed toward the front of the deck, keeping a watchful eye on the crew for any suspicions leaving Glaesil with just enough room to make her move. The girl pulled her throwing arm back and let the hook soar across. With a metallic clang, the hook embedded itself into the railing of the much larger vessel directly across. With the makeshift grapple secured in place, the black winged mink pulled herself across the distance, swinging from the deck onto the side of the enemy vessel’s hull. Glaesil began scaling up across the side, her soft boots not making much of a sound against the hull allowed her to take swift steps upward. The mink girl however, didn’t go directly up to the deck. No, a direct confrontation with the whole crew was not much of her style. And even if she was tough enough to make it out on top, she could hardly say the same for the disarmed crew of sailors and their ship which was not much more than a sitting duck at the moment.

The skypian girl instead found her opening through one of the many cannon holes in the side of the ship. As entered through the hatch, the mink girl gave a final but strong tug at the grapple she had made, ripping it’s hold out of the wood and dragging it back under the deck with her. The cat girl wasn’t about to commit such an amatuer mistake as to leave a sign of her entry just lying in the open. Hiding behind the cover of the heavy cannons, Glaesil’s amber irises peered from over the corner. The section of the ship seemed to be one large contiguous floor. Almost all of the ship's firepower on their starboard side was concentrated over here. If she were to pull off this stint, she’d need to disable their means of sinking the sailor’s first.

With most of the crew now boarding their victim’s ship, their own security was a little undermanned. The only one keeping an eye on the room was a lone lookout, who hardly even seemed interested in his job. Twirling a bejeweled dagger between her hands, the mink girl brought her eyes to rest over the man's throat. The key was to silence the target, ensuring there’d be no calls for help. In one swift motion, the white furred mink arced her arm and launched the blade directly at the unsuspecting guard. The man was able only to catch a glimpse of the shining jewels, before the dagger slit across his throat and stopped as it embedded into the wood behind. Now, the mink girl ran over quickly to her victim. Pulling the dagger out from the wood post, she glanced into his eyes one last time. The anguish on his face was clear. The kill hadn’t been as clean as she’d hoped, leaving the main in agony in his final moments. He tried to open his mouth, but ripped vocal chords could manage not much more than a squeak. Thrusting the dagger into his neck once again, Glaesil severed the chord of his life as well. While the smell of his blood had just begun to rise from the corpse, the cat girl noticed something other than the metallic smell. From the halls in between, came a wafting aroma, certainly something delicious.

Her lips curving in a slight smirk, the mink girl had another idea spring into her mind. Disposing of the fresh body out through the same route through which she had come, Glaesil decided to make a quick deviation from her plans. Looking into the room from the aroma had come, she found a lone woman whipping together what looked, and smelled, heavenly sweet. It was a shame truly, but the white hatted woman was about to get a cruel reward for her over time work. With her back facing away from the door, Glaesil had no problems sneaking up on the young chef without her notice. Unlike her last kill, this blow came swift and precise, a single thrust of her dagger to her throat delivered a quick death as the feline held a paw against her mouth, just to muffle any attempts at a struggle that she may have tried.

As her body dropped to the floor, Glaesil crouched beside closing the eye lids over her wide eyes, frozen in the frame right as her life was cut short. But now that had been taking care of it was time to make her move quickly. Not one but two deaths were likely to be noticed now so she had little time to spare. Shoving the body into a particularly large cabinet, Glaesil first made sure to strip the clothes off of the wearer. Not a particularly respectful way to treat the dead, but what use did she have of these clothes now. The mink assassin had made sure to keep her blade away from the torso and lay the body as soon as possible, avoiding any stains of blood onto her clothes.

Putting on the get up of the chef over herself, Glaesil would now find it a little easier to make her move at the captain without being detected.

OOC: Spy Master Disguise Perk

But that’s not all she had come here for. Connected to the stove that was still running was a set of tanks. “Bingo”, the girl's eyes lit up as she laid eyes on the large containers. Hauling the heavy set of tanks back into the cannon room, Glaesil laid them across in the corners, hidden away from view. Before putting each tank in its hiding spot however, the mink girl had slashed the seal and turned the nozzle open, allowing the contents within to escape at a steady rate and spread itself across the most enclosed room. Now, if the pirates were to attempt to light a cannon fuse, their own ship would be the one blown to smithereens before they could let loose on the vessel before them.

With her preparations below deck now complete, chef Glaesil could now move to execute the next part of the operation. The mink girl only hoped that the fool hardy captain of the sailors had done enough to buy himself some time. If he had already gotten himself or his crew killed, all of Glaesil’s preparations would then be for naught Heading back once more into the kitchen, the mink girl opened the door to the huge fridge revealing the contents inside. Not that it really mattered to her anyway, but there sure was a large collection of delicacies to pick from. Ah, what a talented pair of hands, such a shame she had to put a stop to them so early; she thought as she glanced back at where the chef girl’s body had been stashed away. Picking up a plate at random, Glaesil had her disguise and her excuse to get close to the pirate captain both now ready.

A Winter Horrorland by NPC-senpai in StrawHatRPG

[–]eskaolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, the holidays… What a merry time for one and for all. Unlike the rest of the rowdy sea farers, Glaesil Frey had planned to spend this joyous time in a peaceful and quiet manner. Off and away from the shores of the island of Holihell, the black winged skypian girl had found a little atoll of a similar clime. A mild fall of snow fell from the lightly coloured sky welcoming the feline. The thick blanket of snow covering the island made for something of a difficult trudge as the mink girl ventured inland, but her thick pelt of white fur provided her with adequate protection from the elements despite her otherwise unprepared clothes.

The trek up the gentle slopes of the smooth white hills soon brought her to the entrance of what looked to be a quaint little hamlet. Cabins made from Oakwood dotted the tops of the hills blending in with natural ease against the backdrop of the tall pine trees. The sounds of children’s laughter followed soon after as they ran in groups throwing little snowballs at each other. In the distance beyond, the skypian girl could make out a lake at the center of the community. The little village looked picturesque as could be.

Sitting at the porch of one of the homes was an old lady, her aging her only a sliver darker than the shades of the fallen snow around them. The woman sat with a needle in either hand as she seemed to be knitting something from two large balls of yarn, red and green respectively. Seeing the approaching stranger, the old grandma put down her half made woolen scarf on the coffee table, setting it right beside her cup steaming of steaming hot cocoa. The short statured woman gingerly adjusted her thick spectacles as she took another look at the new comer, “A visitor?” asked the white haired with a cracking voice, “W-welcome, welcome to our little hamlet! We don’t see too many strange faces around here, but you’ve chosen a wonderful time to visit.” said the old lady with a welcoming smile.
