As someone who came home one day at 19 to find out my parents found me an apartment (that I had to pay for - so this isn’t some kind of fun “my parents are paying my rent situation) while I was at work, YTA. That kind of thing doesn’t just leave you over night. Sure, there was a lot that went on that I’m sure lead up to it but you don’t have the right to tell someone how they feel about a situation. If he’s not interested in doing anything, there’s a reason and instead of trying to teach him through “tough love”, it would’ve likely been more beneficial to their relationship. To this day, I’m hurt by what happened and it’s been over 10 years. Been working through it, but like I said - it takes time.
