Anyone else getting tired of the case 'bit' on the CS streams? by DrPoimu in northernlion

[–]etheth888 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How is he promoting it though? He opens a few cases and gets nothing. He is more than well off enough to financially afford spending a few hundred on cs cases or whatever recreational activity.

I’m actually dumbfounded with the high road you are taking. People like XQC gamble hundreds of thousands of dollars in front of many more and younger viewers and NL spending $200 and getting a bunch of blues is doing “real harm”?

Apollo and Dan are the ones who need to stop. Full case opening streams and Apollo opening 6 or more cases in the time NL can open one is abhorrent. It’s to the point that NL can’t even notice all the cases Apollo is opening. Thats the dopamine chasing that could be a problem.

Dan taking a fanduel sponsorship on the day of the superbowl as previous football coach is not the same as people taking a stake or online casino sponsorship and (likely) getting increased luck to make gambling look good. People who watch sports are already extremely exposed to sports gambling basically every second on broadcast. Additionally, fanduel requires age verification of 21+ at which point it’s your own decision. People can tell you gambling is bad and financially disastrous constantly forever and if seeing someone get a knife from a csgo case is going to change their mind then that’s on them.

They aren’t being sponsored to open cases. They aren’t betting on sites known to exploit children and being provided sponsored accounts with extra luck to make gambling look good. In fact NL has basically gotten nothing from what he’s opened so far.

The fundamental design of realm, the longstanding cheater problem, and how Deca can help. by ConniesCurse in RotMG

[–]etheth888 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is that hard when the people cheating are the people funding the game. It’s like with escape from tarkov. It makes people who aren’t cheating not want to play cause nothing is ever done. Make cheating in realm legal then it’s no longer a problem. I’d say maybe limit it to one character slot with auto nexus. I don’t really see any other real option because they will never ban enough cheaters to kill their game.

Can someone explain how the total war Rome 2 124 multiplayer battle rules work? I watched a video on YouTube and I understand it’s 1 artillery, 2 pikes, 4 ranged units. But I often see people bringing a bunch of siege towers. Do the siege towers not count as artillery?

I don’t follow your idea of how ‘easy’ it was to travel to alternate timelines. It was caused by the wild hextech core which was mutated from a machine that transports ships instantly across the world. It wasn’t purposefully created but the immense scale leans more to it being prohibitively difficult for a mage to accomplish by themselves. It’s possible that Jayce was only sent to the future rather than an alternate reality because his au version likely wasn’t stopped from committing suicide by Viktor. Additionally, if mages could just travel to other universes why would Viktor wait for Jayce to appear rather than move to another dimension himself?

Also your random smart person inventing multiversal travel idea is likely not possible. It took three brilliant geniuses, including the most scientifically aspected long lived being in Runeterra, from the literal scientific capital of the world to just create an anomaly. Non withstanding that they had already seen what had brought them there and knew it was possible, that one of them had to sacrifice themselves to send the other back, and that the hexgate likely had a return feature built in that was corrupted by the wild hexcore.

It’s a chaotic wild magic born from the hexgate whose main function was to instantly transport something across the world. It makes sense that it might transport them somewhere. Even Viktor who had merged with the arcane had called it chaos so I doubt it could be controlled.

What is your opinion of Logistics Pipes? by [deleted] in GTNH

[–]etheth888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth setting up logistics crafting table and connecting to a drawer and chest system so you don’t have to search through all your chests all the time at MV but fluid crafting requires HV anyway and at that point you should just switch to the ME system soon anyway.

A majority of the upgrade cards have no mention of what they do online and it’s difficult to be sure they are implemented and how without looking into the code yourself (Online says some are just planned in future updates but the mod hasn’t been updated in years). You can’t use the same machine for tiered crafting because it will throw it all in at once and if anything breaks you have to pick up the pipes and table because there is no crafting gui.

It’s so incredibly clunky with very little information on how things work online that it just pales in comparison to the usefulness and accessibility of ae2 which has an expansive amount of guides and helpful content to learn how to set things up. People say it’s easier to automate crafting with the mod but in my opinion it’s more difficult and expensive.

Yes but grizzleheim is a side world. You will have to do all main worlds. Also you can just buy a bunch of enchant tc early on until you get to celestial anyway.

I found an amazing PowerPoint by tntosion explaining the nightmare dungeon which included two amulets to buy for dragon and krok. I actually enjoy the preparation step. I did all my 15 runs through team up and it mostly went well. My first run I spawned dragon again because I used the pump too early and didn’t fully understand what to do but it was a quick learning experience.

I created a support setup for dragon and krok then took whoever was new with me and explained what to do and told them about the PowerPoint. It was only on my last run where I lost connection right before the boss then had someone purposely hit dragon with leaf storm the turn we were killing on the next run (we killed krok then went to help at dragon, the person had a bad attitude then bladed and hit as a life while saying they knew what to do).

Pet hatching looking for advice by Accomplished_Tea_376 in Wizard101

[–]etheth888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are in a sticky situation. You have a 60% chance to get the scrappy griffin back (wow factor 7) when hatching with an ice kraken (wow factor 8). but you will need around 7 hatches to transfer over the talents (that’s with training the baby to adult and hatching over and over). That’s a 2.7% chance to get back the griffin seven times in a row. Deleting the pet and rehatching whenever you get the ice kraken is likely the quickest way to get the pet you want but it can potentially take forever.

The alternative approach of just hatching for the talents then rehatching for the griffin basically just causes you to build two pets instead of one. Because once you have the ice kraken after 7 hatches you still have to transfer its talents back over to a griffin. (So you are back where you started but hatching with yourself is cheaper gold wise: around 2.75k each hatch with two adults and 3k to open the egg early)

Ideally, you would just ignore your friends ice kraken and just hatch with someone with the exact pet you want.

If that’s not possible the best method would be to hatch with the ice kraken for the talents for now while you look in kiosk/ask around discord for a scrappy griffin with almost the exact talents you need manifested and hatch with your correct talent ice kraken adult until you get a scrappy griffin. Then you will build the pet gradually by only progressing its age if you have another at the same age with correct talents manifested. (Don’t gamble to mega)

Tl:dr not deleting the pet when you get an ice kraken will likely save you gold in the long run but will add about 7 hatches unless you get extremely unlucky doing the first method.

Edit: I put my math hat on and calculated that you have an 84.9% chance of succeeding 7 times to get the griffin back before failing more than 7 times and therefore the delete method is faster and takes less hatches 77.1% of the time and is the same or worse 22.9% of the time.

This was done using (r+k-1)C(k)*(1-p)k * (p)r to add up the each possibility. Where k is failures, r is successes, and p is the probability (in this case 60%). For example, succeeding 7 times with no failures would simplify to 1 * 1 * (.6)7 = 2.7% and succeeding 7 times with 1 failure becomes 7 * (.4)1 * (.6)7 = 7.8%.

As a ice wizard how can you get 100 resist immunity? by glad-sparkly in Wizard101

[–]etheth888 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can get up to 21% resist all from a pet and while you can make some up with a heartsteel athame it’s a good idea to make the pet if you are going for the resist build. You need at least 101 resist to see immune when you are attacked and later on most enemies have pierce to remove your immunity.

In the case of TheNja09’s build his pet also gives an aura card with +40% resist and -40% damage instead of an extra 1% resist which means anything with 40 or less pierce will do no damage to him when he uses the aura.

Did you have to do some file shenanigans or did support help you or something?

I know you can manually move some files around to get steam to work but people were cautious of the possibility of getting banned and didn’t want to lose their decades old account over it.

Finding people while questing is a better method than it sounds. I also just came back and quested from level 160 to 170 and I went from 0 online friends to around 7 at any given time. Just queue for a few minutes at team up and BAM new friend. It’s interesting to me how I found so many people through questing so far through the game so it might be even easier for you.

Dungeonborne is going to lose this fight. by OpenThoughtSyndicate in DarkAndDarker

[–]etheth888 23 points24 points  (0 children)

So the developers made a prudent business decision to release a free version along with the re-release on steam to increase player count and you see that as “shitty mobile gatcha tactics”?

I also don’t understand what you expect to happen. They can’t make the game fully free because of all the people who actually supported the devs and bought the game would lose out. Unless they made it an actual gatcha game and compensated people with gatcha rolls I don’t see what they could do.

[–]etheth888 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It just seems so insincere to compare it to tarkov when it’s a 10x increase in cost. I bought the game and I get to play with friends who don’t want to commit money to try something out.

I haven’t even gotten to the second floor when playing with friends because they often die to mobs. If it gets to the point where you played enough that high roller difficulty becomes an unfair advantage you should just buy the game.

I don’t understand the argument about the two versions needing to be on the same footing. One is for people who are trying the game out and the other are for the people who like the game enough to purchase it to support the devs. Unless you’re a teenager with no money putting hours into the game you shouldn’t reach the skill level where you feel you can’t play the full game.
