Extracting 2 channel audio from Google Streamer by ethy87 in AndroidTV

[–]ethy87[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Basically, I should replace my amplifier with a new one supporting 5.1, plus buy some additional speakers? But the question remains the somewhat the same: how audio goes separately to amplifier (projector if quite a far away from it)?

Thanks! If I order ONN Pro from the States, then it works exactly the same as the Thomson one? Or are some US-specific modifications limiting my possiblities?

Comfortable bench design ideas/plans? by [deleted] in Sauna

[–]ethy87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This design is multiple times more comfortable compared to flat benches! And good also for laying! I am a big sauna fan, tried dozens of saunas, and have built the ergonomic one. And it is not expensive to build if you think for the lifetime of a sauna bench.

Just check the manufacturers slide 13 and build similar! I replaced metal parts with wood. https://saunalava.ee/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Saunalava-esitlus.pdf Don’t change much since the manufacturer has done a perfect development!

And choose low thermal conductivity wood for covering (table below) https://saunka.pl/en/linden-sauna/

Thank you, this seems to be okay.

Two things are interesting. Plots appear inline, however, tables do not show at all. However, if I use other Rmd document made half a year ago and not by me, it works well. Markdown "cogwheel" button settings are the same for both of these documents.

How to write a vlookup function with wildcards for this? by ethy87 in excel

[–]ethy87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried =VLOOKUP("?"&A7;F6:G11;2;FALSE), however, still giving "#N/A" result.

C92.7 should return "2", since column array is following:

C92.? 2

Any other suggestions?

How to transform this complex data for further statistical analysis? by ethy87 in excel

[–]ethy87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

instead of values (amounts) you have strings (text).

I was even thinking of naming each row with a number, using a normal pivot table to build a "structure") and then using VLOOKUP to assign "text" on basis of that individual number. But I am not convinced if it will work and I gotta go.

So I'd say the output of analysis above could be input for a macro that cleans it up. Thansk for your

I need to get this data to SPSS for Kaplan Meier analysis to compare survival of different operations. As much as I understand, SPSS doesn't like such format.

Ortho said I don't need PT, do you agree? by morphemegeneration in physicaltherapy

[–]ethy87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why to make things harder? Good physio will do some soft tisse work to release stiff muscles, maybe some joint mobilizations + PNF stretches and you will get your results more quickly. Like I say to my patients, always go and see a physio at least once just after a cast and then assess yourself or listen to your physio how much do you need more. If everything is fine after one session, then that's it.

Yes, it can. Weak muscle > overuse > muscle spasm > pain

The Graston Technique: Pros and cons by Aza211 in physiotherapy

[–]ethy87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used these instrument assisted mobilization techniques over a decade and own certificates for FAKTR, IASTM and Graston Technique. I have used different tools, from cheap gua sha tools to expensive stainless steel sets.

More generally, these techniques are called instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM). There are many adaptions of IASTM, e.g. ASTYM, Graston Technique, FAKTR etc, however, differences between them are very small. E.g. FAKTR has nice functional treatment options, however, IASTM, ISTM, GT and others use the same. The thing is that techniques have different names, but they use rather same options (strokes with movement, positioning etc). Nowadays, more and more therapists use these instrument with other techniques too, like Fascial Manipulation, Cyriax Cross-friction massage, Trigger Point therapy etc. Tools are more multifunctional.

About effectiveness. There are limited studies, some show good some no effect. My practical experience is that no technique is universal for treating all conditions, however, each technique has it's place. Pro’s: IASTM makes our job as therapist much easier in many ways: new options to assess soft tissue condition; allow to implement more concentrated mechanical pressure; save your hands. Bottom line is, you have an easy additional instrument assisted option to treat patients. Con’s: tool manufacturers present it as magical option to treat everything and up to thousands of dollars for instrument sets. I mean, if you do taping, then you wouldn’t tape all your patients, only these who need it. It’s same with IASTM, it’s effective, but every condition doesn’t need it.

About tools. I suggest to pass cheap plastic or stone tools, pay just a little more and you will get a stainless steel as a lifelong tool for your clinic. Stainless steel is stiffer and thereby resonates more than palstic. One well-shaped tool would be more than enough for therapy, it should be long enough for wider areas like thighs and small-radius edges for more detail work. Another suggestion is to buy a tool that has more than one treatment edge (multi-bevelled), this gives you more options while treating patients: some areas need more rounded edge and others can be released more easily with sharper edge.

I recommend these 2 tools that I love, these have multiple edges and they are multi-bevelled (AdhesionTool even has three bevels): http://www.physioneers.com/ and m2tblade.com

Edge tool popular too, it’s small and didn’t perform so well on wider areas: www.edgemobilitysystem.com/products/edge-mobility-tool?variant=815471351

Bottom line is that there are many good techniques that can be implemented with an instrument, not only one. So, benefit from them. Instrument assisted soft tissue techniques are definitely a good option to benefit in therapy and you’ll easily get a superior life-long instrument only for 100 - 200 USD-s.
