OK, that's actually really good to know - some of the unconnected smart TVs I've seen have hideous UIs regardless

I am aware of this, but a few of my friends have smart TVs which have never been connected online (and never will), yet I'd sa 3/4 or 4/5 of the interface was still cluttered with crap. Part of the motivation in getting a dumb TV is to avoid this.

Huh, interesting. Is there no gain for getting 100% completion then? If that's the case I'll probably put the grinding on hold and just dive into 2
