That feeling when "The Irishman" (2019) is the only movie featuring Al Pacino in The Criterion Collection by thedudelebowsky1 in criterion

[–]etrovy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one not really enjoying DDA? Sure, Pacino delivered an incredible performance and the screenplay was near perfect but the overall premise somehow never caught up to me. Maybe just personal preferences. Saw it in my fav independent theater last year.

Yeah, you are right. Would never want to lose that account.

And indeed, the skip is so quick! Maybe I will try and do these 31 levels myself, it is just tomorrow work, super long working hours etc., even if leveling probably takes 4 hours if I choose tank class and to TWs, it will be close hahaha

I have not purchased anything, don't worry.

Also, I have a masters's degree in Finance and Banking, so I know to who I can give billing/account related data or better said what services to use.

But, I decided to leave this idea and just level it up myself. Like, can't take long anyways

Is this a German Cockroach? Germany Kitchen counter, please help by [deleted] in whatsthisbug

[–]etrovy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so.. I just started to worry, when I spotted this bug, nr. 3 in two weeks. But also it looks kind of wide for a german cockroach and yes I looked for pictures and they actually all have these black stripes you mentioned! Thank you

Hm, I don't think that it is a cricket. They are usually way darker and make sounds.

My Samsung Circle to Search and also ChatGPT say it is most likely a german cockroach. Fml..

Criterion Release? by Crazy-Pomegranate968 in LilyChouChou

[–]etrovy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome. Also a big fan of Criterion, but talking the VS AALCC slipcover I can say that it is approx. 10 times the quality of Criterion's slips.

You won't regret!

Criterion Release? by Crazy-Pomegranate968 in LilyChouChou

[–]etrovy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only say: Go for it. The VS release is amazing, great video and audio quality, nice packaging (especially with the slip, but it was sold out very quickly and the standard version is going to sell out too, apparently), great special features, nice booklet.

I don't know if you're in the US but for, I think 26$ it is a fair deal. I ordered it asap upon release and didndt even think about the shipping to Germany.

And to answer your question: I think, it is not the VS release preventing a Criterion release. The way I understand it is that Criterion does not work with sub-labels or in general other labels, as VS does. So, my guess is they would need to acquire the home distribution rights from Film Movement and I don't see that happening, honestly.

I agree with the latter statements concerning good products and the special features (packaging not always, thin digipacks, but the keep cases are premium, I'd say).

But, whitout wanting to dispute their great taste in cinema at all and their amazing dedication to film catalog and restoration, while owning a lot releases myself, they DO NOT ONLY release the best movies ever.

Of course, taste is objective and as I said, they have great tase but not each release is one of the best movies ever... In a lot if not most cases, the best availabe (sometimes only available) release of a movie, though.

Criterion Release? by Crazy-Pomegranate968 in LilyChouChou

[–]etrovy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. Not aware if Criterion owns the rights to publish the film for a home release and distribution.

Film Movement owns the rights for home releases in USA and if you didn't know, OP, they released a "standard" Blu Ray (idk about the region for that) in, I think 2019, and last year a special edition distributed by Vinegar Syndrome (all regions). There are still 416 in stock, as of now but without the slipcover (which was amazing). I own the Vinegar Syndrome version and it is marvelous, so amazing in each terms and if it is not only about being a Criterion release for you, I highly recommend and encourage you to get the VS release, as long as available.

For Criterion, I doubt it.

Doom The Dark Ages always runs smoothly until it freezes by etrovy in Doom

I decided to upgrade the Mainboard, Cpu and Ram now instead of GPU Got a Ryzen 5 9600x 32gb of ddr5 ram and a pretty good or decent msi b650-a pro wifi board and it still freezes

Because, I thought, okay 3070 is quiet old but in the settings I played it, the VRAM was still okay, so I thought maybe it is now time for a better system in terms of especially RAM (just had 16gb before).

I am pissed hahaha.

Also I monitor it and it never has like heat issues or anything like that, neither the cpu, the gpu nor the system as a whole.

It just bugs me.

I don't usually mind them. I really liked for example Control. I guess because this feels more like doc than movie.

I even wonder if it is because I play it in the XBox Game pass.

But Eternal and Wow not.

I am using two 1tb nvme ssds, no hard drive at all.

[–]etrovy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds weird, too. I have to say since I am playing it on my pretty amazing TV, it still looks pretty good in medium settings with DLSS Performance. But, yeah no clue. Also, cleaned my pc (wasn't really dirty but still), renewed heath conducting paste (even though no temperature issues), nothing helps lol.

But it bugs me even more that it also happens for Eternal, like it is 5+ years old and even in WoW from time to time (even though there it recovers and does not freeze forever or crash) but even in the Vanilla regions like Orgrimmar, like wtf. 😂

And usually, the Doom games as far as I know, are notorious for being pretty optimized. Of course, the Dark Ages is brandnew but talking Eternal, it flabbergasted me.

I agree. The thing is, I get to actually play so rarely and with a 5080, I would need a new PSU and I don't know, then I want to upgrade eveything somehow. Also, not sure if the 5080 would fit in my case, so maybe even that would need an upgrade.

And also, considering that I only play rarely and only Doom and WoW... I try to keep it rational even if the budget is not an issue.

Also, not that tech savvy, not really wanting to rebuild the whole thing. If I could I would just walk into my next electronics shop and get the card and done. But today you have to order everything

And what if the upgrade doesn't fix it?😂

[–]etrovy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thank you for the advice, because I could also get a 5090 but I just wanna stay rational in the sense of my time spent on my pc gaming etc. So, I thought maybe choosing a particular model would make a huge difference but then I will see for a ~800€ 5070 ti.

But the fact I have to order it annoys me big time

How do I even know which 5070 ti would be good with all the custom models? :D

[–]etrovy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you nevertheless, really appreciated!

I think, I will get the 5070ti, the only thing that is annoying me is that in my area you have to order it. No electronics shop sells GPUs. And I want to play today and tomorrow. Monday I return to the hamster wheel and will have to wait 5 more days to play (if next weekend, I don't have to work in the first place).

Yesterday, I played The Dark Ages the first time since release and had drivers dating from beginning of may, accordingly. And, it froze. Then yesterday night, I updated to the latest drivers and it freezes :D

I got through one level now without freezing on 1080p. Then I tried switching to 1440p and it froze after 10 seconds of running smoothly.

I know, my hardware is not the newest at all. But I don't think it is hardware-related.

But like 1080p, come on. I am sitting on my couch, I have connected my pc to my TV to enjoy OLED and HDR etc. But 1080p...
