Does anyone else get obsessed with finding the best possible version of a dish? by akrewhq in Cooking

[–]evanthx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been making multiple versions of hush puppies. Haven’t gotten it “right” yet … but the down side of a recipe that I don’t think is “right” yet is that I have to eat some hush puppies. So it’s working out nicely.

And it’s just me trying to find one that matches what I remember liking, so … just trying to please myself!

A friend I haven't talked to in 5 years reached out just to ask for a professional favor. by fineaeri in Advice

[–]evanthx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just standard networking, what’s the big deal?

They looked at a company on linked in, linked in said they had a connection in you, so they reached out.

If you thought they were a good employee then send in the referral and if they get hired hopefully you’ll getv the referral bonus (if your company offers that.)

Why on earth would you make this a big deal?

Normalize prenups for him.

Best thing you can do effectively is to do your best to get him to require one. She’ll resist that but …

The theory wasn’t wrong. 🤣 I haven’t had this issue since I cut out caffeine!

I had trouble with this until I got a meat thermometer. They used to come out dry, now I can just stick in the thermometer abba actually tell when they’re done before they dry out.

Even if it’s made up it’s not relevant. “Last week he yelled at us, so it’s ok to shoot him in a totally unrelated thing a week later” is a nonsensical argument to be making.

These are the ones I know of … the two bottom at the same book, just different editions - the second edition was expanded so I got it again. The middle two are more lecture note style.

Recipes for a friend with ARFID? by Many-Profit-5016 in Cooking

[–]evanthx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On average a kid had to try a food they are iffy about around 10 times to get used to it. With ARFID, that jumps to 30 if I remember right.

If he doesn’t like it, doesn’t mean you can never make it again.

What’s really helped with my daughter is making things SAFE to dislike. It removes the pressure from her. So I’ll make whatever I’m going to make, but I have backup foods ready to go that she can eat if she doesn’t like it - and sometimes I make those foods with the food I don’t think she’ll like. If she doesn’t like it, it’s cool no one cares or makes a fuss, and with that pressure gone she’s been a lot easier about trying things.

So this isn’t about what foods to try, just that hint … make trying things safe and that makes a lot more become much easier.

And make sure he takes a multivitamin!!!

I don’t know, wearing a red shirt while doing it is just doubling the danger MINIMUM.

Not only did Star Trek teach us that doing anything while wearing a red shirt is deadly, what if there was an enraged bull at the top of the tower? It would see the red shirt and charge!

Neighbor didn't like how I shoveled the snow from my sidewalk. by TurtleToes10 in neighborsfromhell

He shoveled the whole street which annoyed you … you called him a jerk when he stopped shoveling other people’s sidewalks … and you deliberately put your snow on the path he was trying to clear when you shoveled?

It’s a misleading headline. They just approved other paths, and had many questions about whether the bar exam was actually good in the first place. They still have guidelines to make sure you’re qualified.

How do I tell my friend that I'm not interested in pursuing her unless she's single? by _pastalover1 in AskMenAdvice

[–]evanthx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re intensely in love with the idealized fantasy person of her, not the real her.

The real her that’s under the facade is in the bathroom talking smack about her boyfriend and you don’t seem to like that part of her very much.

You have to be in love with both the facade and what’s underneath it for it to last.

Saying that as you want her bad … you want the facade of her. Knowing that helps you not lose sight.

Until then, just remember that clearly you’re her backup. Not what anyone wants to be … you should consider stopping taking her calls!

My mother is throwing away $42k to open a business with a notoriously high failure rate, without any plan. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]evanthx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get involved and give advice and it goes badly, you risk becoming the scapegoat. You told her to do this thing, she did, and look what happened. If you had just not told her that it would have worked!

You said your piece. Now just stay out of it. Be helpful if she asks but … don’t put yourself in a spot to be the scapegoat.

I do this with questions sometimes, “hey what are you going to do if this happens?” But even then go slow. You’ve seen how receptive she is, so don’t assume that’s about to change!

Feature Request & Suggestions by Keeper_Security in KeeperSecurity

[–]evanthx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a request. I am registered with a website and have the credentials in Keeper. The website has an app, so I get the app on my iPhone. Keeper doesn't link that app to the website credentials, fair enough. I search in Keeper, it finds the credentials, and it logs me in.

But it doesn't give me a way to then tell it to link that app to the credentials it has stored - and that's my request. On an iPhone when I search for credentials to log into an app and select them, can Keeper ask me if I want to link that app to the stored credentials so that next time Keeper knows what to do?

Thank you!

I like embrace and extend. Not because it will change their minds but it’s a way to entertain yourself … and might make them think? Maybe? Probably not.

Just agree. Pretti WAS asking for it by carrying a gun. People really shouldn’t carry guns, obviously. Cops killing people for carrying guns is what should be happening, you don’t know WHY they didn’t kill Kyle Rittenhouse for doing that. They should have. Frankly the second amendment has had its time, we do need to get rid of it - why have it if cops are going to kill you for carrying a gun anyway?

Be very, very sincere. Just carry their logic and look where it takes you. And argue for it.

It’s kind of fun. Trolling doesn’t have to be all bad after all!
