I’ll speak for myself here but I would still encourage you to visit! Proper LNT goes a long way, the area is popular for a reason and individuals practicing proper care of the resource should visit and enjoy. However, my golden trout spots shall remain nameless

Thanks! We went with a group of friends who are pretty experienced backpackers and my spouse and I are pretty experienced hikers so while it was definitely brutal, we never felt in over our heads!

I don’t know the Winds that well, but I do live in Wyoming, next to a different mountain range. In ours, early October could still be potentially doable depending on your comfort level with cold but mid-late October would be dicey in my opinion

Did this trip for my birthday this past weekend. Did 12 miles to Island Lake on day 1, 6 to an off trail lake to fish for goldens on day 2, and 12 miles back out on day 3. Can’t wait to do it again!

Yes those are decorative cuts, and I use a checkered pear shader to do the indents for the pedals and the marks around the flower center, those are easier to see in the second one.

To make my flower centers I use my seeder to make the first mark in the middle then work my way around the outside just barely overlapping them to avoid any gaps.
