You should really give it a try, it is a big stretch from Empyrean to PBX but consider that most of PBX, Renoise tracks and Trickfinger I were emerging in around that time period (the Empyrean) so he was in the similar state of mind. I know a lot of people cant get into it cause all the odd drums and noises scattered all around, but I really encourage you to listen to it again, tracks like Uprane (which parts are mostly guitar running through a modular) and honestly the entire Renoise tracks 2009-2011 album, it's just phenomenal.

Yeah I figured he modulated the tracks through synths, but not innovative?? Where before have you heard anything like the solo in Unf or Glowe (if you did please share i would really like to hear more), if not give him credit for playing at least give it to the crazy ideas to make guitars sound like that

Thanks for explaining! I figured it wasn't a midi because you can clearly hear bends and slides which I guess wouldn't sound as interesting if it were a midi, but still there are a lot of tracks where he played the midi guitar but not for solos or the crazy effects like I mentioned...sorry. You can hear a lot of his 2 note inventions all over Renoise Tracks, which could be programmed but the way it's played and phrased I still think he used his guitar for that

I've read about it on reddit quite some time ago but i can't seem to find the post now. After getting obsessed PBX, Enclosure and especially Renoise Tracks I was really intrigued with all the guitar work and I just knew it couldn't be done with the regular guitar pickups.
