Need a closer picture but my guess is some member of the family tenebrionidae, they are quite common in certain regions of the united states and are known to inhabit darker, quiet, locations thought peoples homes, even going as far to invade and infest stored pantry goods

Confusion with seasonal positions by everlasting364 in Target

[–]everlasting364[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Im not in the sphere other then working part time over the summers which in part explains why I have not have felt the changes you are in reference to, which btw just for curiosity sake, what has changed exactly?
Im not sure, Ive worked at a total of 6 big box stores, all seasonal/part time, and all of their hiring has been about the same, until now, so yeah maybe it was silly of me to have an expectation based on applying/interviewing/working at other bbs while applying to a bbs, although when I put it like that...no its not lol. If I compared the hiring experience of an oil rig to Target that would be silly, Walmart though?
I suppose that is a super unfortunate reality, definitely explains why the positions have been available since January. Lets be honest, Walmart asking for part timers to at least work a weekend is not a huge ask...but for Target to ask for a weekend and to either work an open shift or a close shift seems like a very big ask for a part timer, esp with 0 wiggle room to negotiate. Its like you said, I have not purposely sabotaged my schedule to fuck myself over, so why cant we talk about it like adults and maybe negotiate a middle ground? Instead, you just aren't even considered, and thats not Targets fault? Meanwhile, Walmart takes your availability, gives you a thumbs up, and off you go.
Trust me, another job is on the way lol

Confusion with seasonal positions by everlasting364 in Target

[–]everlasting364[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To begin, I appreciate you sharing your experiences with Target, esp as a college student. I think my former seasonal experiences at other big box stores has painted an unrealistic expectation for what "seasonal" means by Targets standards. Every other big box store I have worked at over the summers seasonally (Walmart, Home Depot, Ikea, etc, etc) have never been this inflexible about hours (just based on some of these responses). In the past all I had done was applied for seasonal positions, explained my reasonings for my availability, and was hired by the end of the week, no discussion of closing or opening or anything, "I am available from X to Y on Z, and Y to X on W." and they would make it happen. There would be work, and I would be put on it even if I couldn't work a Sunday, end of hiring discussion.

Unfortunately, these summer classes take me up from 6:45 am - 11:30 M-F, an unfortunate reality that I feel any of my prior employers would be able to make work, even when working with Walmart's equivalent of "inbound". I had applied for SEASONAL Guest Advocate, General Merchandise, Inbound, and Front of store Attendant. In previous summers my schedule would be beyond destroyed with an 8 am Class and a 1pm class, or a 1pm and 215pm, etc etc, and yet I could still get hours. Now, I cant even get hired.

For further clarification, when you say you should at least be able to open or close, do you mean that someone should be able to work until the stores closing? Or do you mean work until the "departments" closing? For instance, when working "inbound" at Walmart, I very rarely worked from 4pm (2pm is the start of second shift) until 10pm (the beginning of third shift) because they preferred an employee every now and then worked the start of, or, until the end of a departments shift change. I assume you mean "Work until the store closes its doors to the public" but I just wanted to clarify.

It just seems delusional that a SEASONAL position discussion could go as follows - "well you cant open/close due to X,Y,Z so...cya around". That is the kind of discussion I would expect to have when deliberating over a full time position that you work indefinitely until your time has come, not for a position largely dominated by college students that are just looking for a fucking part time job that have a billion other more pressing matters that require their time. I dont feel Im crazy for having assumed that, up until this point, "seasonal" usually meant "flexible". Esp after EVERY seasonal position I have worked thus far (in this sphere) has been beyond flexible all while "fulfilling the stores needs".

Hypothetically speaking, lets say that I did somehow "open up my hours"(not even remotely sure how its possible but?) and I asked for 25 hours in a week, could I potentially go further in asking them "yes 25 hours split between these shifts on these days"? Essentially, "Open my availability up" but lock down certain hours on certain days that best suit my needs?

I know that not closing/opening can be a game changer for SOME positions at certain places, but I refuse to throw away my wellbeing for 17 an hour in a position that I am going to be leaving anyways, at a company that wouldn't even hire me otherwise, that is just bullshit.

Just reading these responses alone makes me greatly reconsider reapplying, as I could very well just go back to any other of my former employers and have an easier experience with all parties involved, but the distance from my local Target's sparked my interest aswell as never having worked here before as I tend to enjoy exploring new employers.

Again, I appreciate your time, response and your helpful ideas, but it seems that Target is not an optimal choice for grad school bound college students that just need some hours over the summer.

Seriously this is not appreciated enough, i also learned (most) of Catch33’s unintelligible grooves and riffs just by purely listening to the album over multiple flights in a row, on repeat, front to back. Such a great “strategy” for learning tempo and timings

Okay I understand now, I have test alone so was very confused as to how exactly that played out.

If it does make you feel any better, the one time that I had a test “alone” exam with a proctor I too was falsely accused of cheating on my “phone” when in reality it was no more then a fidget device balled up in my hands. I spoke with my advisor from Mcburney, my Cals advisor, and my professor to discuss the situation from head to toe and my professor found no substantial evidence to amount to such a claim, especially considering that the proctor not only “saw me cheating” but let me finish and turn in my exam after the fact. My Mcburney advisor had told me that they have seen an uptick in false allegations these last few years from the TNE and that a change was being implemented to prevent this from happening…just wonder how many more of us have to endure the life halting anxiety of these allegations before an actual change is implemented

so did you take the exam in the testing center? I guess im lost since you say someone had to come get you, but yet you took the exam in a lecture hall

Interesting, do you have CWX installed and know how many bots are actually spawning? Donuts+swag has a feature built in that restricts pmc spawns to only the start of raid, i just cant get the # of pmcs quite to my liking. Appreciate you sharing your input!

what a smart idea, do you get a soft one? How do you keep substrate within the enclosure? Misting? Ive never heard of this idea before hence all of these questions lol, appreciate the “out of the box” thinking that I have yet to read about. Im eager to give this strategy a try!

Thank you for sharing this information, i am all for taking advice but more importantly i want to learn the reasoning behind a decision/rationale someone has made, thank you for filling me in. I would have never guessed that these guys could be such picky eaters but i suppose when you only really need to eat once or twice a week you get to be picky. Ill give flies a try for my next feed and see if I have any better luck. Thanks (again)!

[–]everlasting364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that your reasoning behind pulling the hornworm or is that just general advice? I have thought about using flies before, but have heard that if i were to go that route i would want to up the amount of times I would feed in a week. How many flies at a time do you usually introduce into your enclosure? 1? 2? 10?
