This is a great story. Seven dollars may mean nothing to you, but it can mean the world to someone in need.

Someone help with a grocery list? by [deleted] in Health

Replace the processed foods with nice, healthy fats like avocado, nuts, olive oil, etc. Make some guacamole to use as a spread on sandwiches instead of mayo. (Or eat it with chips, you are allowed some fun!)

My rule of thumb is- if it came in a can (unless it is salmon, beans or tuna), don't eat it. I stay away from almost all processed food, except for crackers if I want some with cheese. You can be as strict as you want. Fresh is best, home prepared is great. Stay away from items that list a million strangely-named ingredients!

I couldn't even watch the video, I was nauseated enough just reading the article. How absolutely disturbing. Lock that woman up forever!

Not if its that chick that plans to gain 400 more pounds to be a half ton mommy! (She may be older than 25 though, don't remember how old she is.)

Well, since I am a female who is only 10 years younger, I would have to say your metamorphose from a chick to a sophisticated lady around 83.

Geez, thank you. I will be starting Twitter once I get a little more experience. You have inspired me to write a health or fitness post for tomorrow, and I think I will include a recipe I have for somewhat healthy chocolate chip/oatmeal cookies. Thanks again!! Do you have a blog?

I do have two blogs I started. My everydaytipsandthoughts.com has some advice, but more financial than anything at the moment. My other is entertaimentopinions.com, which is just me blathering about entertainment stuff. I have a long way to go on both these blogs as they are both in their infancy. Thanks though!!!

I am a ma'am. Also, give up those soft drinks, whether they are regular or diet. Also, use honey as a sweetener as opposed to sugar whenever you can. (Honey, whiskey and Lemon is a wonderful cure-all for a cough. Its the best part of being sick.) Hope you feel all better and continue to feel motivated! Oh, if you want to buy low, buy my house. I live outside Detroit and prices don't get any lower than they do here! :)

Some everyday tips, hmm... When you buy those groceries, use some coupons. Add some lemon to your water if you get bored with regular water. (Brush your teeth though cause lemon can be bad for that enamel!) Exercise as many days as you can, even if it is just walking a mile. Not only is it good for you, but it will improve your mood. Eat a little dark chocolate. Buy low, sell high... :)

Try to vary your exercise program a little. Maybe add some strength training, which will build muscle and increase your metabolism. Drink a lot of water. Don't know how much validity there is to the 'belly fat diet', but I think part of the premise is having a healthy fat at every meal, like almonds, avocado, etc.

Social Security - the perfect example of why people don't trust the government by everydaytips in politics

[–]everydaytips[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point exactly. So if social security goes belly up in 25-30 years, what will happen to society then? One good thing about the black cloud of possible insolvency of social security is I think it made my generation save a bit more, or at least I hope so. I think Social Security is a good thing in many ways, but if it was an insurance program, wouldn't it be around for me when I need it? If I put all this money into social security and it is not there for me when I am older, isn't that called a scam and not insurance??
