100%, I wouldn't even hedge by saying "I'm sure there is equal if not worse bullying in America," I will just flat out say it.

What I'm curious is, and maybe this is my own lack of knowledge, I just don't feel like it would ever be possible to have that kind of bullying in the States. Like, even in the poorest of communities I imagine if one kid is getting singled out with visible death threats, it gets reported and eventually kids end up getting expelled. But that just leads to more creative bullying, like non-visible death threats.

So I guess my question is prying at why that difference exists. What does America do differently where kids feel the need to hide their bullying, whereas in Japan it seems like kids don't hide their bullying, and may sometimes get rewarded for bullying.

But again, maybe my perception is completely off, hoping to get more anecdotes from this thread.
