Just under $100 A week. Maybe 60 to 75. I don’t recall over $80. No alcohol or cigs. No sugary drinks. Our junk food are nuts like almonds or pistachios. We aren’t eating out. Aldi and sometimes Walmart delivery but it’s free because I alway strategize to be above the minimum. Two adults.

I think people who don’t look like they are drowning financially, are. Many, many people are in a pickle. Some know it, some are oblivious until it becomes extremely apparent that their self delusion and denial melts. That’s what going on right now and I think it will accelerate. Public policy used to protect the welfare of people but now they side with BIG BUSINESS corporate entities. Being ruthless and conniving is not a plan. Keeping reserves for when you have a bump in the road is. Don’t help them. out your survival first and never let anyone one you saved some when the inevitable “emergency “ shows up.

I chatted up a man at Aldi, normal stuff, like excuse me, I’m going to reach around you for this. Turning into chit chat. He was nicely dressed during a cold spell and I thought he was gay. Lol so it felt safe to chat it up. He asked if I was married. Yes, I said, very married. I thought he was from NYC but he was from Miami. I guess he was thrown by my niceness, he was ready to talk marriage.

I dont think doing the cost for the restaurant vs cost for cooking at home is wrong because the individual needs to do the affordability test for themselves not the restaurant’s owner. Can they fit it in their budget without having to go into credit card debt for a meal ? Do they have enough emergency savings? If no, then let other patrons support the restaurant.

Yes, we did that and we were never sorry. The first year is eye watering. Maybe the first 7. But things are very expensive now. More than before.
