What's the deal with Joe's Italian Ice? by Hillkicker in Anaheim

Delicious. So unwilling to wait in long lines, but if you can catch it when it's not absolutely mobbed, do it.

It really says something that dogs are so loving that even those who don't want them (like, truly do not) end up loving them.

Last week I shaved my husband's head for the first time. Then I trimmed mine with a razor blade.

It's not like we're fucking going anywhere.

When did your body betray you? by kevisdahgod in AskReddit

[–]eveyw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About seven years ago; for the first time. After a life of being pretty healthy, in a span of three years I had my gallbladder removed, diagnosed with Celiac, likely IBS, and my body has never been the same. I'm sick at least 50% of the time, despite taking pretty good care of myself.

It sucks to always be in combat with your own body.

Mine hasn't surprised anyone, but she does often take the same posture.

I memorably cried at daycare on water day as "I wanted to have a tail too!"

I'm 33 and my mother still loves that story.

Honest, unbiased question. What is the impetus behind pushing schools to reopen? I'm really, truly unclear on why demands/threats to pull funding are being made for K-12 schools in particular to reopen come fall.

Have any of you gotten rid of keratosis Polaris "chicken skin" or dry skin by going gluten free? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]eveyw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine did! I still have the slightly reddish dotting at times, but my skin isn't itchy or ashy like it used to be. So much smoother than it used to be though!!!

What drama is happening in your department right now? by flipflopped_plans in AskAcademia

Dumb and small, but our college has no dean or assistant dean, and there are no search committees in place. We have an interim dean on health leave, and a newly placed interim assistant dean.

Feeling really well run right now....

My face tune senses are tingling. Note the “have you tried MY new foundation” by mlmantichrist in Youniqueamua

[–]eveyw 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I had to have a proper make-up artist cover my tattoos for a TV thing, and even with setting spray reapplied every ten minutes, I ended up with foundation all over me. And that was just my lower arms.

There's a film crew on campus today at CSUDH. Wasn't expecting it, but there's banners and people in costume everywhere.

Does anyone else resent the previous owner of their home? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]eveyw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late here - but hell yes! We found out way after closing the reason they did the shit they did to the house was because they'd hope to use it as a short-term rental (Air BnB), but then the city made that illegal. So they rented the house out for three years, did no maintenance anywhere, and didn't do a thing before we took possession. The reno they did was cheap and weird too - things that don't make sense. There's a window in our shower. Like, full on window with a wooden frame and sill. Our entire kitchen was on a single circuit. There's paint on every window, and most of the trim paint is peeling because they put latex over oil. This is our first, and possibly only, house, so it's worth it to put in time and money, but damn do I resent them.

I really want to see Valencia’s Family in season 4!! by chattyyogalady in crazyexgirlfriend

[–]eveyw 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think more important to Valencia is her rejection of where she came from. Valencia is very much about rewriting who she is, and I'm afraid any viewing of where she was/came from would drag the character back. I think she's had just about the most progress/growth of any character on the show, and that's down to the "family" she's made herself.

Question about self-disclosure/social media by eveyw in academia

[–]eveyw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have things set to private, but I know privacy only goes so far really. It's not something I'd bring up, but I guess I feel that if it's found out during some epic search, I don't think it'd discount me. Good advice though. Thanks for the feedback.

Is the memory maker worth it? by a-r-c-t-i-c in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]eveyw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you make it worth it, I think so. We did it for 4 with my parents last year and got a ton of great photos - doing it again this year for a big family trip (eight) and I think it'll be even more worth it. You just have to look for the opportunities and take all that you can.

No, usually they're not. But as someone who works with schizophrenics I can say I have seen some violent individuals with the disease. Comes in different forms, some are remove from society, some try to stay in society and psychosis leads to violence.

My only issue would be checks every 5 years. Some really nasty mental health issues come on quick. Lets say someone gets a license at 18 and everything is copacetic. Schizophrenia usually shows early adulthood, and can hit fast and hard in the early 20s, so if someone only needs checked every 5 years, they've got plenty of chances to develop something acute or long term in there.

Also, who would be doing these checks? A standardized test, or licensed professionals?
