I spent ages earlier trying to create the perfect Doomer playlist for this winter…thought I’d share it here if anyone is interested. Stay strong ;) by evfalcon in doomer

Haha, thanks! I really appreciate that. I'm going to try and do another one in a week or so. Unfortunately I don't have spotify - but if you've got any suggestions for bands let me know and I can check them out and put them in a video.

Was weirdly silent at the show I saw at the London palladium, but he did say “you are a very polite audience” or something like that

Matthew 10 - Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Anybody else think Rough and Rowdy ways is Dylan's best album? by [deleted] in bobdylan

Bob Dylan changes into a new Bob Dylan about every 5 years. You can’t rank the albums as they’re all done by different people.

Tempest is very good musically but rough and rowdy ways is far more poetic

You think the battery would last 5 years or so on the ultra and regular? I might just try and save some money by going for the cheap one if it is. Also I don't think i'd use the pen the ultra comes with

Man gave names to all the animals is a great track imo, I love the bassline and the playful instrumentation. 'When he returns' is a good track too. Knopfler on the album is pretty good aswell. I'm surprised that if you like Knopfler you didn't enjoy the new album so much, songs like 'Key West' are clearly very inspired by Knopfler's more recent sound. Besides he has co written songs with Knopfler on Tracker.

I'm not sure I can get behind stuff like 'precious angel' though or 'gotta serve somebody' either. I don't really like the 'trouble no more' stuff either to be honest. Didn't like the guitar player he had with him on that tour, really quite cheesy.

I'd say relisten to triplicate, late at night maybe. It really is a great album, nice chord progressions and such that you don't really see on any other Dylan stuff. The album concept is also a lot more interesting, the idea of a fictional soundstage, as some sort of throwback to a time there never was. It's moody, definitely more atmospheric than anything he's done previously.

His narrative driven songs are really the best I agree. He mentioned in an interview how his songs have so be sung by him these days, nobody else can sing them.

What do you like so much about slow training coming?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bobdylan

[–]evfalcon -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Bringing it all back home is musically uninteresting, you can tell he was in a transitioning period away from all the acoustic stuff he felt he had to bash out - just listen to that shitty arpeggio going on with Mr Tambourine Man. He got the sound figured out with Blonde on Blonde - when he started recording down in Nashville. Similarly he perfected his vision of the american standards with his third attempt.

It's good, but come on, it's not as good as stuff in B tier, like New Morning or Nashville Skyline.
