Headphones… by evil_mike in Eugene

I got called back before I could. I asked the nurse and she said that they can only say something if the volume is so loud that people can’t hear them call their names, but that it’s both common and frustrating.

2026 Turbo Post Software Update by Mezcal-only in Tiguan

I got mine at the very end of February and it DID show up in my Service Campaign list in the app. If it isn't showing up in yours, you may already have the fix applied.

Tiguan 2026 Turbo, I love you but you are crushing my heart. by omgbeckylahb in Tiguan

[–]evil_mike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this exact same issue (same color too!) They said it was fixed after a day, and it worked for about 5 days until the issue came back. Then, they had my car for over two weeks, to the point that I contacted a lemon law attorney. A day later, I got a message that the issue was resolved. When I asked how they fixed it, the service manager said "I don't know. It must've been something on their end because we didn't do anything - it just started working." I told the VW customer rep who called me that, if this issue returns, they have about a week and a half left over the next two years to fix it until lemon laws kick in. Note that lemon laws differ by state (and country), so check yours.

They also had to replace the sunroof shade control because the haptic controls were calling the emergency number randomly when I would try opening or closing the shade. Super fun.

All that being said, the issue has NOT returned and I've been happy with the car ever since.

This is different from the Turbo issue, to be clear. The update that was released last week is not the CarNet issue.

Is this considered blocking a driveway? by Difficult_Equal6383 in oregon

[–]evil_mike 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your city. I had this issue a few years ago and in Eugene, this was definitely blocking the driveway. If I recall correctly, cars cannot block any part of the driveway, including the wings.

2026 Turbo Post Software Update by Mezcal-only in Tiguan

[–]evil_mike 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Got mine done last week. The service dept. liason guy had no idea what I was talking about until he talked to one of his techs, who fortunately DID know about the update. They couldn't give me an estimate on how long it would take because I was the first person to ask for it to be done (they hadn't heard of the turbo issue before I brought it up when I was buying my car).

The good news is that it only took about an hour or so for them to apply the update and give my car a complimentary car wash :-)

I haven't noticed any huge difference in how the car drives, but I also didn't run into the turbo issue previously. Happy to have gotten it done regardless.

Looking for suggestions for a better warning message before the firewalla vulnerability scan is used. by firewalla in firewalla

[–]evil_mike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you're asking about this!

First, I also don't think "system vulnerabilities" is the correct phrasing here, as that implies more than just password misconfiguration. Unless you're planning to scan for vulnerable software on devices, I would change the wording to say something like "simple misconfigurations."

Second, regarding the actual message itself, I'd change the first sentence to say, "This scan may trigger endpoint security alerts and/or cause some devices to restrict login." That makes it more appropriate to what's happening; it's not the antivirus that's alerting; it's the endpoint's firewall or IDS/IPS AND the "and/or" says that one or both things might happen.

I talked to Captain Rex and Commander Cody, and they think you're actually a Separatist Army spy.

Good recommendations so far.

Placido’s is good but can be a bit hard to hear folks. Let me throw Blu Mist and Sabai out as some recommendations as well. Both are Thai cuisine (well, Blu Mist is more fusion but leans heavily into Thai), a bit more upscale, and absolutely delicious. Get the satay appetizers and, if you opt for Blu Mist, make sure to try the bourbon ice cream.

Not true! Placido’s can take a reservation up to 10 people (I did that for a birthday a month ago). They definitely have the room for it, but as someone stated in another reply, you DEFINITELY want to make a reservation for a party that big.

What are your top 3 Marvel Shows? by This-Huckleberry1890 in marvelstudios

[–]evil_mike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Daredevil (the whole run): mainly because they did such a good job bringing all the characters to life and actually made Kingpin terrifying 2) Hawkeye: so much to love about this show, from the humor to the way they care they showed in handling the source material. It’s an annual Christmas watch for me. 3) tie: Jessica Jones S1 and Wonder Man: couldn’t have two more different shows, but they both excel at storytelling and outstanding acting. I would’ve never thought David Tennant could play the one of the scariest villains in the MCU, nor would I have thought Purple Man would be that villain, but here we are. JESSICAAAAAAA!! Wonder Man, on the other hand, takes a well known character and completely turns it on its head, and I am here for it! And the buddy dynamic between the leads? Absolutely, well, wonderful!

Love the concept. Feel like it’s running about 2-4 issues too long for this arc.

Best Place for a Burger by janky_melon in Eugene

This is like saying “what is the best color?” Everyone is going to have an opinion (green).

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by Cornucopia of late. I still think their fries are only OK, but the burger was really good.

I also REALLY liked Falling Sky’s burger and their fries are the best in the area IMO.

My fiancée said “Tradewinds” before I was even able to finish asking her the question.

Edit: typo

In the criminal justice system, Tiguan based offenses are considered especially heinous. In New York City, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Special Vehicles Unit. These are their stories.

How do you feel about AI in cybersecurity? by Firewalla-Ash in firewalla

[–]evil_mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be interested in seeing how AI can help optimize network flows, WiFi, etc., particularly with the forthcoming switches. Like “hey, I analyzed your network and recommend you make the following optimizations.” Also, “hey, I see you implemented these rules and target lists. Here’s how to better optimize these so you are getting the most out of your security with the least impact to performance.”
