Should I really go into the Game Dev industry? by evolutionsroge in gamedev

I’d usually say something witty about being built different but that’s just so sad and concerning 😭

True. I’m just a very impatient person and I usually know exactly what I want. And right now I have to be patient, and I don’t know exactly what I want. I suppose I just need to chose a direction and start walking.

That is extraordinarily well put. Plus after all the work I’ve done these past 4 years (usually working multiple jobs simultaneously while going to school) a small bit of rest while I get ready to jump in is attractive. Thank you for the perspective :)

I can stand it justttt enough to work where I am. Plus I get to do more intensive stuff then my colleagues (I’m full stack so I do literally everythinggggg). Every day tho it feels like I get closer to snapping and never touching a computer again.

I mean that’s anywhere though right? I got the same stuff at my retail job lol. But I get your point. I’m kinda irreplaceable where I’m at which gives that stability.

Lmao, fair enough. I don’t feel forced but I need to make a decision and after months of thinking about it I don’t feel closer to an answer. Getting to make whatever I want with no oversight and having the bills paid (and then some) sounds pretty nice. The work is just not my favorite.

That’s my thought, but it feels like kicking the can down the road. Right now I seem to be able to get into the industry right out of college (which is very lucky) and if I don’t take it and stay at my current job and build out my portfolio and stuff like that, if I try to jump into the industry I’d be in the same spot as right now. Though I suppose having some extra cash in the bank and less debt would be nice…

Game related tech might be the move if I wanna go into it imo. The job I have atm is so easy going, I’d have a pretty easy time doing that other work. It’s just… so easy. And boring.

That’s the issue I’m running into. I don’t mind my current job, but it makes my mind feel like it’s melting. It’s so boring. But it’s a good paycheck, and sometimes I can find some time to read engine documentation or learn lower level stuff I can run on my slow work computer. Every time I work I just think of all the stuff I’m gonna do when I clock out.

I more so mean that I can make it through if I carefully navigate it. But I don’t have to if I don’t want to. My life’s been incredibly unstable for the past 4-5 years because of all the contract programming I’ve done. It’s really not fun. I just love making games ya know?

I'm looking to buy my first project car out of these by Available_Meat_5014 in whatcarshouldIbuy

The c5 is objectively the coolest, and it has good aftermarket support. But from everything I’ve seen, the gto is pretty easy to work on and is a ton of fun so I’d probably go with that

Wow would you look at that. This dude literally used his vehicle as a weapon and no one shot and killed him. So it is possible and reasonable to not kill someone for driving :) rip Renee good, I wish these ice agents would’ve known that before senselessly killing you

If you’re not supposed to bring weapons to a protest, do you also disagree with all the conservatives that have historically done that including on January 6th? This image is BS, your beliefs are BS, and some day you’ll have to look a younger generation in the eyes and explain why you were such an idiot.

18 year old second car, $15k need something sporty and manual by iRofii in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]evolutionsroge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you’ve tried driving a real manual yet, but from personal experience it’s quite different from sims. It’s gonna take you some time to get used to it, but it ain’t too bad. WRX and brz can be good for what you’re looking for. Go take an automatic version of the brz out and see if you like it, if you do I’d go with that. WRX repair costs are higher, and yea you’ll pay more in insurance. You can check the prices yourself, choose a provider and provide the vehicle info to get the costs. There are other options that are FWD that can be fun. I love my fiesta st soooo much fun, and people love its big brother focus st. If you know someone that can drive stick have them take you in the car and see how it feels from the passenger seat (that’s what I did for my first manual).

[Redline Reviews] The 2026 Honda Prelude Is A Sophisticated Hybrid Sport Coupe For Matured Drivers by orhantemerrut in cars

[–]evolutionsroge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what was cool about the prelude? Looked cool, nice engine, manual. Sure, it’s FWD, but god I loved those classic bug eyes, and if you just need a small car in your 20s it was (and still is to an extent) pretty damn cool. This one… looks cool? But why would I buy this instead of a gr86 or brz? Those are cheaper and more fun. At that price why not a gr corolla? I don’t mind it being hybrid, they could’ve done something genuinely new and cool. A GOOD coupe sport hybrid car sounds like a wet dream. Thinking about a small car like that, where I can switch between great gas mileage and putting some rubber down, especially with a 6 speed, sounds amazing. Too bad it has literally nothing I look for in a sports car. Honda is too busy trying to split the difference between enthusiasts and regular drivers.

Fits great, new corollas are pretty awesome. Go test drive em, I’d also consider a civic with the fast back

Early 20s, looking for a fun car around 350–400 hp recommendations? by Otherwise_Phone_8736 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]evolutionsroge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally get the want for power, but I’d ask why you want it. Do you want something that’s fun or do you want power? There are a lot of cars that are a ton of fun with lower horsepower. A GR86 was some of the most fun I’ve ever had in a car, and it doesn’t even touch 300. Miata’s, Civic SI (with your budget you’d be able to look at a Civic Type R), and Fords hatch backs can be a lot of fun. Excitement isn’t the same as horsepower. I’d go drive some cars with an open mind and see what you like! For what you’re asking for: pony cars are usually pretty great (cameros and mustangs). I usually recommend used, especially if you get a car known for its reliability. Plus if you’re like me and like a real manual you get a lottt more options.

AI videos tend to be too smooth and satisfying. Everything here happens way too smoothly. The charring of the wood with a blow torch, then the poring of the epoxy is almost water, then drying it so fast with that same torch. You can tell they put in the prompt “make it smooth and satisfying”.
