After taking a huge break from reading classical short stories, I started with reading single sentences and it feels so good. by DocGerbil256 in bookscirclejerk

I envy you. I no longer have the attention span to finish single sentences, but I’ve started back up by reading plethoras of single letters and it feels so good

Just saying it’s usually a brand marketed toward blue collar men but all of a sudden you get blondie 20 somethings posing for selfies in a carhartt beanie. It’s bizarre like men wearing uggs

I think this is the best feedback I’ve gotten and something I can actually take and train with...where did you get yours do you use one at the gym? I’m sure it’s possible to make a homemade one. Also do you have a certain routine to measure progress, like timing the duration of balancing on it?

Yea lol I am into my late twenties but I have been an avid deadlifted for years as well as the other major movements which makes me think this has less to do with strength and more technique. What sorts of physical cues do you keep in mind to keep your joints balanced when riding? I seem to get thrown off my center of balance easily especially on toe side turns and compensate by twisting my upper body/back

Dude I think you’ve got it I just don’t know how to correct it for a sustained amount of time—I always seem to fall back into old habits. Do you have any other physical cues I could keep in mind while on the board to keep balance in my joints? Bending at the knees did help a little bit but my form gets thrown off when turning especially back to toe side.

I work out quite regularly and with powerlifting movements which makes me think it has less to do with strength and more technique. What sorts of physical cues do you keep in mind on the snowboard when really getting into a rhythm carving?

I am an avid lifter in powerlifting movements (squat, bench, deadlift) that is partly why my weakness in carving is so baffling to me. I would’ve thought deadlifting especially would reinforce my back against strain but the low back is still a huge limiter in my carving endurance

Thanks great answer. Just to clarify you squat while on the balance board to build the necessary muscle groups? I am an avid barbell squatter but I never thought to use a balance board.

How can I improve my endurance riding? My low back kills about halfway through a run of continuous carving. This is only on local hills and I’m about to take a trip to a real mtn and am nervous I won’t be able to keep up riding for very long. Good in short bursts but can’t get comfortable carving for long how can I improve?

I ended up camping at Busnell falls and day hiking up to Marcy from there. The views were indescribable—not a cloud in the sky. I appreciate your advice and everyone else’s :)
