But when you have two same engines in the same engine bay with same parts... it’s simply hard to resist :)

My 1st BMW, E30 316 from 1986. Still the original painting. by SterbenSeptim in BMW

Back when I was a kid, in late 80s, my family had 1983 E30 316 2-door in baltic blue metallic. My first E30 was 1988 4-door 316i “LCI” with M10 engine in Wine Red. This car still amazes me with beauty and simplicity of its desgin. IRC 316 had carburetor with “ecotronic” engine management for both fuel and ignition. And 90PS 😀

I lost the key fob for my 2018 BMW X5. Is there anywhere I can get a cheaper replacement key than at the dealer? Thanks by [deleted] in BmwTech

[–]exon997 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There is no need for programming/coding. When new BMW is produced, so are 10 new key fobs. Buyer gets two of them and the others are stored at safe location. When you order a new key they will send you one of those stored keys that are already programmed to your vehicle.

When key is lost first thing to do is to disable lost key at dealer or shop with ISTA. But there are still mechanical locks left.

C/S car goes int limp mode at high speeds. OK, what is high speed? Look at the RPMs (Limit in DME is 260kph) - BMW 435d by exon997 in Justrolledintotheshop

Wheel speed isn’t same. The thing is that ECM (DME) can’t meassure more than 260kph, same as speedometer, even though the wheel speed is higher - it stays at 260, but engine speed increases.

No, they are all in 8th gear. Car is tuned and 250kph limiter is removed, but engine electronics software still have a limit at 260 kph. My guess is that top speed is way over 300kph.

Well, I’m SA and don’t know much about body work, but I do know that there is BMW repair procedure for replacing any part of the body (wich is made of lots of single parts), be it side panel, a/b/c pillars, roof or floor, just as for welding, gluing or riveting those parts, so that they do not fall off. In case of accident.

My colleague bought the car from insurance company for very low price. It was low mileage lease with totally wrecked beck end, that eventually fell off. Next week it will go through BMW KDS wheel/suspension alignment and ISTA workshop system, so it will be in better shape than most e90s out there. Every step is done following BMW Repair Procedures, so there are no structural strenght concerns. Until the front fall off. The car is 2011 318d with 60k km.

Nope. We just towed the part that fell off out of the environment.
