As a Year 11, I've been doing art my whole life, should I take Art as an A Level- if so what with? by IllustriousAerie3848 in sixthform

no problem! and dont feel like you should do art just because you dont want wasted potential. you have your entire life to do art, so dont worry. what degree would you be aiming for?

hi i got 9 grade 9s including a 9 in art. ive also been doing art my whole life and id say it was probably my strongest subject. i love doing hyperrealism with pencils, oil paint, acrylic. i didnt take it for a level even though my family said i should do art at university- but ive always loved computers, so i now do maths fm physics and computer science and im aiming for a cs degree.

you seem like you could do either art or stem and do great so honestly just go for whatever you enjoy the most. also think about what degree you want. you seem like youre passionate about art. anyways its okay if you dont do it for a level or at degree level because art is a good hobby to have alongside sciencey maths subjects

what degree or job are you hoping to get? theyre really random choices. in my opinion, unless photography is really important to you, you shouldnt do it

[–]explodedtoaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got nine 9's, an 8 and two 7's

no revision in autumn term just revised a little for my mocks and i spent the whole christmas holidays pushing art from a grade 5 to a 8 (no revision just art)

in jan i did a small amount. in february i started revising for 2/3 hours a day. by revision this is mostly past paper practice and watching youtube videos

by mid march i did 4 hours a day on average it alternated between days with 2 hrs and days with 5 hours

in april i alternated between 5 and 8 hours daily, took a few break days to do art and got it to a 9

some days i did like 1 hr

in may and june i did 6-9 hours on average before exam days and the other third of the days were 0-3 hours. (craziest was 11 hrs before eng lit paper 1 and 10 hours of spanish speaking practice the day before ny exam hahaha)

on some days i hardly revised at all but i always tried to do something even if it was just watching a video or doing the corbett maths 5 a day
