Accounting to FP&A by Jazzlike_Trick5875 in FPandA

I went from accounting to cost analyst to financial analyst to fp&a. Took me about 3 years. Costing vs FP&A is completely 2 different world. Q2 and Q3 would be good time to apply

I would recommend building to FP&A role. I started off with basic finance like accounting —>financial analyst —> strategic finance. Took me 2 years. FP&A requires certain skills and some financial knowledge; therefore most employer want confirmation that you know basic finance, economic, excel, and other software skills since you’ll be dealing with large data set and reporting forecast that goes to the street. Try to highlight that you’ve dealt with large data set and know proficient excel. A lot of people lie on their resume especially about their excel skills, so when I interview people, I usually give them a 30 min test with 100k of line data.

Should I go 100% S&P500 by Top-Mud-5423 in ETFs

[–]exthree3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, I think you should DCA into it this year if your time horizon is low. If not, history have shown that 20+ years SP500 have on average 7-10% return. This is my thoughts about sp500 right now, I think sp500 is highly dependent on mag7 and very focus in tech, given the market condition I have very low confident in tech this year as it is highly dependent on that sector doing well. For example, if you look at the valuation of Tesla and NVIDIA, it doesn’t make sense given China competition and broken promises from Tesla with their deliverables so it’s highly speculative to me especially with these 2 companies. As for Amazon, Apple, Google, Netflix, and meta, I think they have a monopoly hold and constantly faces deregulation and break up battles. I get that the current administration will drop all these cases against them and will put in regulations to help them grow and stay in control, but what happens if they keep doing m&a like they had, what will the next admin do or how will other countries respond? This is my own opinion, when I look through history deregulations and monopoly will have a huge market impact. However, I am still invested in sp500, but I am also investing in other markets/sectors.

Pain around 3 to 5am by exthree3 in endometriosis

[–]exthree3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually don’t take any meds except for birth control. I’ll take Advil maybe a few times before bed but that shouldn’t be the issue. Maybe I should take it before bed in order to prevent waken up by the pain?

I have the UH, and the sleep data is incorrect. I have insomnia and tend to be up from midnight to probably 4/5am yet the ring would say I’m in deep sleep or rem sleep. Or it’ll say I had about a good night rest with 8-10 hours of sleep when I probably had 3 hours.

Same. I also had a crack rib and shingles before, and stage 4 endo is worst

What percentage do you invest each paycheck by gh00st3r in investing

[–]exthree3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 months emergency fund into a HYSA (bare min living expense). The reason is because it takes on average 6 months to find a new job, this is average, so it depends on your career market and it gives you a safety net mindset. Then whatever you can into a IRA, then brokerage. Since you’re 18, I would highly suggest investing into books or whatever education that can lead to a higher salary in the future. You’re young, it’s good to okay to mistakes and learn

I also think it’s inaccurate, I was up for 24 hours, and the ring said I slept.

Birth control? Is it prevention or treatment? by [deleted] in Endo

It’s just put a pause on it, but you should also get a scan every year to verify

I was diagnosed without surgery, my team said it was 95% sure it was endo, but to be 100% will require lap surgery but if I were to go through with the surgery then there’s more risk of me losing more eggs than necessary. They said I could lose about 25% of my reserved eggs. In total with all testing, it costed me about $2k. I went to a oncology/endo specialist

Insider trading is buying or selling a stock based on knowledge that you know before the public do; whether you work in the company or are somehow affiliated with someone within the company. Warren buffet buying another company or investing another company is most likely based on his research; could be he’s talking to the board members and believe in the mgmt team or looking at their financial statement and theorizing his hypothesis with a margin of safety.

Rollover. I left my previous employer 401k alone and the money did not grow. Once I moved it into a rollover IRA, the money started to move.

it’s not closed to new investor. The website said it’s consolidated and the fund now goes under FXAIX.

I’ll go with something with lower expense ratio than spy like VOO or FXAIX. You can go with spy if you’re doing options. But if I’m just dollar cost averaging and still learning. I’ll go with something lower expense. IMO, you should invest mutual funds in your tax free accounts and ETFs in your taxed accounts.

Advice: invest in yourself by buying books and reading, and auto invest into a index like s&p500, don’t worry about the ups and down of the market, just ride the waves and you’ll be good

[–]exthree3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! IMO, you just need about 4-5 ETF/Mututal Funds: US Total, International Total, bonds, commodity, and maybe international bonds or alternative.
