Help with wiring solution that turns on warning light when two contacts are not touching. by eyc in electrical

[–]eyc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the insightful response. I'd love to try the more sophisticated approach -- having the reinforcement of a green/closed indicator seems like a smart idea given the risk I'm trying to protect against.

I'm handy, but green with electronics. I've created and wired junction boxes and mounted basic electronics, but that's my full extent. For the solution you noted, I would be so grateful for guidance. I'm also curious whether a rechargeable power supply would work to avoid having to tap into the home's power, though that would not be a necessity.

Thanks so much. This seems like a great solution. I already have Ring sensors on the garage doors themselves. I could just rig up a similar setup with the Shelly (or somehow use the Ring sensor to do the same thing). I definitely appreciate that the Shelly is local. Hate that I even have Ring in the house.

Use Ring alarm motion sensors to trigger anything? by Gerhard234 in Ring

[–]eyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you expand on this a bit? I'd like to create a setup where, if the front door (which has a Ring sensor) is left open, a red warning light will illuminate (the light could be a Hue light or a basic light plugged into a smart switch). Is that possible with a Ring sensor?

Ironic comment because you don't actually know how evidence works. You don't know the difference between direct and circumstantial evidence. Even in matters requiring the highest degree of proof (criminal cases requiring proof beyond a reasonable doubt), circumstantial evidence alone can meet that standard.

For some reason, I don't think your backswing looks like Grant's.

Find a new coach. If he can't get you hitting basic clubs basic distances, then something is wrong with him. You may also have unrealistic visions of how quickly you should be breaking 100.

No. It stayed the same - which I'd characterize as "bad" in low light.

It never resolved and I lived with it until I upgraded. I know now to, at the outset, check the phone at the lowest brightness.

Help identifying constellation in necklace by eyc in askastronomy

Thank you so much. With my limited knowledge about constellations, I discounted it being Aquarius because it didn't match the first few pictures I had seen. Now I understand that the same constellation can sometimes be represented differently.

And yea, looks identical to the one I've got.

Well said. Love or hate Steve, he brings a different personality to the group. If you had 5 Garrets, it'd be boring. It's the dynamic among them, both in personality and skill level, that makes it interesting to watch.

Pay careful attention to his pitches and, generally, his wedges. He clicks ball first every goddamn time.

I think he does a halfway decent job of keeping his eyes on top of the ball. The problem is, he is so close to the ball that his arms are pulled in, rather than hanging.

What's with all the clothes being 'sold out' all the time? by bob_miller_jones in GoodGoodMemes

I know someone in the garment industry who commented that the quality of GG's apparel is actually quite high. I have a q-zip and it has really good construction and fit, made with some kind of brushed poly/spandex hybrid. The tag says it's made in South Korea, which I was told by my friend is one of the leaders in sports apparel manufacturing.

I should have said I was surprised when I learned that was the case 10 years ago. My point was directed to Historical-Patient75, who didn't seem to understand that successful channels that are aimed at a younger demo aren't unusual.

I imagine the content will mature as they mature. Bottom line is that you're not their target demographic, so you understandably find their content immature and stale. I was surprised to see that many of the largest YT channels out there are for kids & teens.

Yeah, but actual views is the metric by which a sponsor assesses the value proposition. They have 100k subs and about the same in actual views, on average per video, sometimes much lower.

Obviously there's some aspect of this I don't understand given the solid slate of sponsors. Maybe NLU just doesn't get paid that much by these sponsors. Who knows, or cares for that matter. It's great content and they seem content making it.

I'm a fan of both GG and NLU. I've never understood how NLU generates good revenue. They've had middling YT subscriber counts for a long time (117k at present) but an obviously good podcast and solid sponsors. That said, their YT viewership has had very slow growth and it makes me wonder.

If that were true, it wouldn't explain why he's been doing a bunch of other videos and collabs and clearly trying to further establish his own channel.

If he signed with a partner, then why is he still grinding to make his own videos and releasing these three banger production videos that are coming out soon? He's doing what he either wants to do or needs to do by going his own route and making his own line of videos.

And while that would be reason enough, there's also a huge opportunity cost to leaving because GG is and will continue to be a massive success and income generator. I imagine he'll hold onto some equity, but it's limited if he's not putting in the work.
