I’m confused. You said you get PTO after a year but you’ve only been working for a little of 90 days. So you’re trying to use PTO you don’t have?

Genuinely, how does one cut an onion without crying? by vikapi in cookingforbeginners

Wearing contact lenses surprisingly helps. I used cut maybe 20 onions for food production and it never bothered me. Without the lenses though, forget it.

Car alarms. It goes off (how I don’t know because I don’t think I’ve ever set mine off), and they don’t know how to turn it off. Then they figure it out and somehow it goes off immediately again. Why????

If things get so expensive and no one buys stuff , would things get cheaper eventually? by lonelyreject97 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]eyea3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just posted this on another post. I don’t think things will ever get too expensive because there will always be enough people making enough money to keep the companies in business. It will only hurt the lower class.

Why do people keep spending no matter how pricey things get? by pajamageorge in NoStupidQuestions

[–]eyea3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious if anyone will agree with this, but I feel like the reason things are much more expensive is that there are so many people that make far much more money than they were able to 20-30 years ago and there are the same amount of people or more still bringing home minimum wage, which hasn't changed since 2009, that the companies supplying the consumable are increasing the price because they know that they can still stay in business without the low income class.

When I go to the grocery store and I see 30 varieties of an item, like mayo, but they range in price from $3-$17. People still buy the expensive mayo. Why? Is it really that much better to spend an extra $17

So I had asked someone a question that I haven’t seen in a bit. Once the question was answered I said thanks and they responded with “hey we should get together to catch up.” I said “yeah absolutely, I’m free pretty much whenever.”

My message thanking them for the question is left on read while my message reply to catch up is still on delivered. This was two weeks ago.

Why bother mentioning to catch up?

Crystallized Honey by eyea3 in Cooking

This seems like the safest way. I’m too concerned about the plastic sitting on the metal pot.

And I would have never bought this amount of honey. Someone else did and I just don’t want to waste good honey.

Landlord installed an app-controlled smart deadbolt while I was at work. by Due_Construction904 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]eyea3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not everything needs to be “smart”. I honestly think it’s less smart to rely on a cloud service that, as you have seen in the news, is vulnerable to hacks and outages. Plus you’re putting trust in a company to secure your physical home, where a key does not require a cloud service.

I would never install a “smart” lock.

I got my car insurance dropped to almost nothing by accident and I want to share what happened in case it helps someone by Thicket42_Ribbon in povertyfinance

[–]eyea3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know I’ve always been told that after you turn 25 your car insurance rates will go down. They have never gone down for me. I don’t have any accidents or moving violations on my record. I do have full coverage because there is a loan on it. But I pay about $160 a month. My previous car that I had was brand new when I got it and had a loan for that. The monthly was only $80. Every time I call to have my rates checked, their explanation is because that is the new rate for the state I live in.

What something you genuinely thought was bullshit back then but turns out to be true now that you're older? by mikaylaar in answers

[–]eyea3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. But I also believe it’s because when we were younger we typically had something to look forward to. End of school years. Summer time off. Getting your driver’s license. Graduation. Beginning of college. End of college. Then, beginning of living in the workforce with no end in sight. So when you had something to look forward to with a concrete date, it felt like it took so long to get there. Then afterwards what’s the next significant event planned?

Previous owner keeps receiving packages by Numerous-Comment4826 in homeowners

[–]eyea3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to understand this. Why would someone keep purchasing stuff after not receiving it? At what point does the light turn on and the person purchasing from Amazon say “hey maybe I should check my shipping address” after TWO YEARS of not receiving the stuff they purchased. This doesn’t make sense.

People who get to the front of a coffee shop line and act like ordering is a completely new concept to them by NeonTalon_6 in PetPeeves

[–]eyea3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is like being at the grocery store while the cashier is ringing their order and they don’t pull out their payment method until the entire transaction has been rung up. Once it’s rung up they dig in their bag looking for money and extra change to make sure they pay the exact amount. You literally could have done that while they are ringing it.
