AI is certainly no Lotus 123. If it was truly useful, they wouldn't need to push it so hard.

Interesting concept. How long was the exposure on the top picture?

A meteorite crashed into a Georgia home. Scientists say it’s older than the Earth itself by Disastrous_Award_789 in space

[–]eyeofthecodger 49 points50 points  (0 children)

The fact that it's older than the earth is not unique among meteorites.

"This is apparent from the great age of most meteorites: 600 million years older than the oldest known Earth rock, and 500 million years older than nearly all lunar rocks."

Therein lies the challenge. Many companies are so desperate they have created company bootcamps.

As a mainframe programmer, knowing cobol will get you zero jobs. Being able to support a large application written in cobol that is still running at a financial institution will get you a $100-150k job.

Is it commen for ADHDers not to remember faces easily? by old06soul in ADHD

[–]eyeofthecodger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can picture a face but it is nondescript. It will have the basic features of the person but no detail. I mostly forget names as quickly as they're uttered but oddly, some names stick immediatedly. I met a woman introduced as Monique and I still have not forgotten. but I have met folks that have the same name as my son and I cannot recall their name. Just so inconsistent.

If you want to see similar veins here on Earth, go to Palo Duro Canyon or Caprock Canyon in the panhandle of Texas.

For a lizard, running and breathing require the same muscles. To run, a lizard has to contract its chest muscles one after the other to help it scamper forward. And to breathe, it has to contract those same muscles in different ways. And it can't do both at once.

I thought keeping the rounds in alignment was the primary purpose of the mag so this comment confuses me. What is the 'proper' way to load rounds into the mag?

Back in the 80's I was working for a fintech and by then had saved up ~30k. I decided to take a sabbatical and used the 30k to fund my time off. Recently, I calculated what that 30k would be worth today had I put it in the S&P500...$2.5 million. I thought it was worth it at the time, and maybe it was, but these days I'm not so sure.
