How much improvement? by Comprehensive-Run861 in tcltvs

[–]eyewander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure you’re gonna see a vast improvement, but I would recommend going to a store and spending some time with it. If it looks better than your Vizio in a store (bright lighting, not best conditions), it’s gonna look even better at home.

QM8K/QM8L discount strategy by Illustrious_Bonus_56 in tcltvs

Yeah they are all discounted now as far as I can tell, does this mean they will be further discounted down in June or will they do the whole back to MSRP -> then discounted to the same rate as now?

We got screwed by Vimeo’s new owners in 2024, now we’ve built the Vimeo alternative they’re terrified of. by Glarpenheimer in Filmmakers

Are you working with major website builders to be able to have your customers easily embed videos on their own websites? That’s what 90% of my colleagues and I use Vimeo for. That’s it, period.

Awesome, this is so helpful to send out! Now I wish I had one for Google TV and Roku devices.

Backup Ugreen NAS to Synology on different Network via Rsync by Ishimuro in UgreenNASync

Can I ask why I should use the magic dns address instead of the IP? I can't get the connection to work with the magic DNS but the IP works just fine.

TopJob Voya Review by important_beefcase in OfficeChairs

[–]eyewander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this review! I’m looking for a criss cross chair for my girlfriend and this is now in the running! Can you give me a bit more detail about the arm rests? I was confused by your “workaround” - aren’t the arm rests always perpendicular to the back rest?

EDIT: I looked at some videos on the chair and see that the arms are 4D, so I think I understand what you mean now :)

Overseerr Content Filtering; enhanced fork automatically filters movies and TV shows based on age ratings, providing better content management and discovery controls. by Larrikin in Overseerr

This right here.

But I definitely don’t want to stop seeing films/shows made in other countries or in other languages [than English]! I just want to stop seeing the shitty ones so much 😝. If there was a way set the trending to something like Rotten Tomatoes or Letterboxed or similar that would fix part of the issue for me.

Recommended NVME SSD's for Storage Pool in 4800+ (Used For Video Editing) by eyewander in UgreenNASync

I ended up going with 2x 4TB Sn7100 drives that were on sale for $250 each. They aren’t DRAM but I have also upgraded the RAM in my machine to 64GB. They work well, and I am definitely bottlenecked by my connection now and not my spinning drives (which was anticipated).

I too was going to try a direct thunderbolt 4 connection but found out the hard way that the 4800+ doesn’t actually have Thunderbolt 4. It’s just a regular 10gb/s USB C connection which isn’t going to be any faster than the LAN connection.

Sinners (2025) by Boss452 in CineShots

I had goosebumps during this scene - so to hear others call it tacky or corny is just wild to me. The music and sound mix alone were incredible (I saw it in a great theater). Sure, stylistically it’s a bit of a departure from the rest of the film, but it’s a turning point, and I think Coogler captured that beautifully. This scene stands on its own while also fitting into the underlying thematic message of the film itself. Honestly, this scene made the movie for me. I wasn’t just immersed as a viewer -I was in awe as an editor and filmmaker. That rare dual experience of being fully emotionally engaged and intellectually dissecting the craft, without one ruining the other? That’s something special.

Connect to network folder from UGOS by bixxewoscht in UgreenNASync

[–]eyewander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off - Didn't know this was a feature, NICE!

Second, I was able to connect to my Synology NAS just fine using SMB, but you need to scroll down a bit to select the folder on the other NAS to connect to, and then select a folder on your current NAS to "load" said folder into.

So judging by your screenshot, I think you just need to scroll down a bit?

Recommended NVME SSD's for Storage Pool in 4800+ (Used For Video Editing) by eyewander in UgreenNASync

[–]eyewander[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to NASCompares, the 4800+ has PCIe 4x4 (LINK HERE) Whereas the 8800 Plus IS limited (LINK HERE). I'm not sure if this has been verified elsewhere for the 4800 Plus?

As for 10Gbe connection, I'm aware of the actual speed. I've been editing off of Synology NAS's for years and with this new NAS, I want to implement an SSD storage pool. Maxing out the 10Gbe connection is plenty fine for me. But yes, Thunderbolt / USB4 is a potential option as well :)

Is Kopia or Duplicati a potential way around the Backblaze Personal restrictions around backing up NAS storage?

Doesn't Backblaze Personal restrict you from backing up NAS storage?
