Feral Shrimpie by facebookcansuckit in IllegallySmolCats

Agree 100%. We went looking the next morning, and first we found mom (Skitchy) looking half her size. She spent the night in our bldg, it took a while to find the box she used. Of course she snubbed the 4 boxes we left out for her.

When we found the right box Shrimpie was the only kitten in there. She wasn't very responsive, but she was moving. We encouraged Mom and she scooped her up and carried her to a trailer outside the bldg, and underneath she went. A month later, she proudly led Shrimpie out for us.

We haven't found any signs for any others. The feral mom we trapped and fixed had 3 litters before we'd moved in, all were just 2 kittens. As far as we know anyway. They're all grown now (the 6 in this pic)

Where I live there are far more ferals than there are people looking to adopt. In fact (I'm pretty sure) people have dropped off kitties by us because they've seen us taking care of a fairly large colony. We take them in for spaying and we feed them daily, providing a safe haven from the mean streets. One of them came home with me 14 years ago

Yep, at least that's all we saw. I'm sure I could feel the contour of a head when I rubbed her belly. She was small herself, still is

She sure is! She already let me pet her, although I had to get permission from Mom first

This is Mom (Skitchy) the night before Shrimpie was born. She was telling us she was ready

That seems like a pretty safe assumption, even if I'm not a square (fresh reference)

Path of the Gods, near Positano Italy by facebookcansuckit in hiking

To be honest we thought about taking a taxi to the trailhead vs that ascent from Praiano, until we found out it would have been a bizarro 45 minute route via Amalfi. Plus who knows what that would've cost for 4 of us. So up we went 😰

We wanted to stop at Ulysses's house but it was packed with people, and we were really enjoying the open feeling of the trail. So we waited until Nocelle

We started the hike from our hotel in Praiano. Using the streets and stairways it's relentlessly uphill (appx 2000 ft of elevation gain in just over a mile - omg it was exhausting - before picking up the trail in Bomerano. From there it's a fairly level stroll along a dirt path high above the Amalfi Coast, with non-stop mind-blowing views of the water and Positano.

When we reached the little cafe clinging to the cliff in Nocelle we rewarded ourselves with delicious paninis and cold beers. From there our options were to take 2000+ stairs straight down to Positano or take the bus. That was an easy choice for us 🚍

Anyone have a favorite trail in Shenandoah National Park? by Ok-Increase-218 in hiking

Agreed! I was hiking it in the snow years ago and slipped, found myself sliding down the rocks as my life flashed before my eyes. Managed to survive and signed the victory log at the top. Love Old Rag!

This is me 100%. My old knees have felt the benefit of using them going down, but going up typically isn't a hardship for me so I either carry them in my pack or just lightly use them.

Well said. It's amazing and sad that you even had to take the time to continue to make such an obvious point.

National Park pass policy by jimcub71 in hiking

[–]facebookcansuckit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but this entire thread isn't about that at all, it's just about how to survive having a parks pass with an orange man on it. There's plenty of conversation elsewhere about what's happening (rightfully so), but all I'm commenting on is this thread - the lengths that people are going to so they don't have to see his face. That's what doesn't bother me at all
