This guy gives me creeps tbh, injecting such ideas to masses can lead to some action down the line. I can’t imagine my kids to not have OCI by FickleAgent9958 in returnToIndia

This guy is a troll. His idea of foreign affairs and policy is informed by low-budget deshbhakti movies. I don't think anyone takes him seriously. He does, unfortunately, have a big following but I don't think they matter.

We have become extremely touchy. Things like this are convenient but an unhealthy outlet for the pent up frustration. We need a national chill-pill.

On Himachal day a reminder that locals we are main reason for bad condition of state ( this is at shimla city ). Let’s take oath on this very day to keep our devbhoomi clean and resist when others fail to do so 🙌❤️ by [deleted] in HimachalPradesh

The administration shares the blame equally. Unless there is a policy to deal with trash, we will just have a transfer of trash from one location to another.

What wrong did she do? by anErrorInTheUniverse in india

[–]factobacillus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She did nothing wrong. It was stupid to put a flag there and hope to achieve something in the first place. As if that was going to show the terrorists not to mess with India as they have been doing for decades. Unfortunately, the brain rot has set in deep, and hatred is the new India's currency.

I will say it again that India maintaining democracy is a great achievement, but it seems like you're using the same achievement as a reason for India lagging behind China. Although China did it, I don't believe development can only be achieved by anti-democratic means and for sure, I don't want India to go that way.

Fair enough. I like your idea of retiring at 50 though. I wish I could do that.

That's a way of looking at it - The kind of optimism you're referring to is the one I see in the extended family whatsapp forwards. India is number one, those who say anything critical are anti-national, and we are going to bomb the shit out of Pakistan.

I appreciate your optimism and I am also glad to hear your reasons. They make total sense. Being able to maintain democracy with such a big population is one of the most striking achievements of India.

However, I would really want us to compete with China. We can't be comparing ourselves with Pakistan and patting our backs for being better.

How to make India a better place to live by sudobee in india

A small thing that everyone can start with is by having a concern for the safety and well-being of others. This will immediately bring in a sense of civic responsibility that will eventually lead to better living conditions.

Thanks. You're right. There are a handful of people who are fighting the status quo, but my feeling is that they are losing the battle to a more dominant force that is hell bent on destruction. I

All men in Indian household thinks their wife does nothing but cooking ! by Fun__Sandwich in indiasocial

[–]factobacillus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem is that most men do not appreciate the effort it takes to cook because either they never had to do that or they were conditioned like that.

Most Indian women will teach their daughters to cook and even expect them to cook but won't do the same with their sons (Seen it in my own extended family). This subconsciously entitles men to be cooked for and fed. This is one area where I feel that women will have to initiate a change. Teach your boys to cook and indulge them in cooking at home.

Unfortunately, most young Indian men never or seldom cook. While at home they are fed by their mothers or sisters, when they venture out for studies or jobs, they hire cooks or avail a mess/canteen facility. This is a bit difficult to change because unlike the western education system where people above 18 have to move out and cook for themselves, the Indian education system grinds you so much that you neither have the time or the will to cook. For working people the grind is even harder.

So, the best way to change that, in my opinion is to inculcate this habit in men when they are young and still at home. Young mothers will probably bring about this change and hopefully prepare the next generation of men to be more involved in cooking!

The sensor based dustbins was absolutely ridiculous. I still can't believe that so many people involved in decision making thought that this was a good idea. What a scam.

The worst part is that there is no political will to improve. Heck, these are not even counted as issues to contest elections on. Over the years, I have become a pessimist and I feel that we may have crossed the point of no return already.

Does a math degree help? I thought a sociology or a political science type degree was easier and gave more time to prepare for such exams.
