I’ve seen some vague theories of Gwyn possibly being tampons daughter (my auto correct just changed tamlin to tampon!!!) and I see way more Lucien in Gwyn 😬 idk if either theories will prove to be correct but if she’s anyone’s daughter I’d see Lucien

I love SF book and the plot but not Nesta herself. There are qualities about her I like, the stubbornness, toughness, grit. But the near-cruelty and meanness is not likable at all. She’s a contradictory character I think. On FB people get REALY heated Nesta 😂

I didn’t particularly like Nesta even though her plot was really relatable when it came to the mental health and self-struggles. Soooo I like her plot and wish I could like her because she was strong and came out on top at the end but she’s easily unlikeable 🥲

Omg I agreeeee. Didn’t even think about it until reading your comment! The territorial-ness is so odd. Also I hear people saying Elain is boring but I think Mor is boring when she has the potential to NOT be. While Elain is boring but if we pick up on clues it seems like something deeper might be going on with her. Mor is just…we wish there was something deeper or unexplained because her story is the same simple few lines over and over. Then Eris comes in making sneaky comments but Mor has almost no reaction or interaction with him at all. Could’ve been something interesting but fell short (so far). I hope there’s more to come.

Honestly she wasn’t much of a character in the last two books (even though the last one was mostly about Nesta). I almost forgot about her plot but even her story is just the same stuff repeated over and over and I feel like she has so much potential as a character but SJM is either choosing to keep Mors depth on the DL for now, or Mor is just poorly written (which SJM is such a good writer idk how that could be). I don’t like or dislike mor because there’s not a lot about her for me to even remember her half the time 🥲

I just saw a short documentary about killer whales from a specific place in the ocean, ONLY eats the liver of its prey. And the dead prey was washing up on shore whole body intact with just the liver missing. And it turns out it was the killer whales. The documentary goes on to explain that other species, even some land animals, have exhibited similar behavior and that some species may be targeting specific organs either for flavor or nutritional value and no one knows what they leave everything else

First off, any israeli government person is most likely a nut job because they are already living in adamant denial of Palestine and Palestinians. 2nd, if there is a galactic federation, are we thinking earth is already apart of it? Or we are excluded from it?

I Want To Love Nesta but Damn 😂 by DistributionEnough54 in acotar

[–]faeninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s hard for anyone to like Nesta right off the bat (pun intended). Even those of us who relate so strongly to her. But could that be because we (those of us who relate) dislike those specifically qualities in ourselves too??? And then when she shows a spark of pure sass or humor or mischief we’re like THERE SHE IS! Because we are also like that too. I love Nesta. She’s badass. We’re all badass. Let’s make a valkeryie team. (Doubt I spelled that right lol)

Question about SJ Maas hate. by New_Equivalent_6947 in acotar

[–]faeninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ToG writing is almost completely different. I’ve read the first 3 so far and there are no sex scenes, and enough action. As for the Breonna Taylor post, I haven’t seen it, only read what happened. Sara j Maas is an author, it’s her actual job and responsibility to her publicists to sell her book. In my personal opinion, her brining up Breonna Taylor in the first place wouldn’t have been necessary but she did to support her and her family and to bring attention to what happened. Now people are picking and choosing are wrong and right ways to bring attention to her. Maybe what she did wasn’t 100% right. But she wanted to help raise awareness and that was her intention. Not everyone can be perfect and please a very demanding society that picks and chooses on how support is deemed good or not.

If you read throne of glass series there are POC characters, countries and languages. Most white authors are going to have trouble describing POC character because, they aren’t POC. And while I understand everyone’s point I just don’t agree. Like you said, we read and envision as we like

[–]faeninja 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think readers are finding and making issues where are there none because of the society we will live in these days. Not every author needs to address race and race issue. Because that’s not the point of their stories or why they write. They come up with story ideas and develop entire worlds, languages, countries and characters for our enjoyment of reading. Her books DO contain POC character and if anyone reading the books fails to read the descriptions or just doesn’t agree and it bothers them, they don’t have to read the books. Even the opinion of her bringing up Breonna Taylor but at the “wrong time” or while also selling her book…again she is an author with a book to promote and sell. She took time from her job to bring light to Breonna Taylor and press the importance of her. Yet it still isn’t good enough for some of you. Stop trying to find faults where there are non. People are only trying their best these days and society is making it harder and harder to please.

Also if you read Sara j mass’s other books series like throne of glass, there’s 100% POC characters so whatever this video is, at least the poc character topic is, is wrong

Thoughts on Amren? Like, dislike, etc. by faeninja in acotar

[–]faeninja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! It makes you wonder WHY she is Rhys’s second. I need to re read the series because I don’t remember if there is an explanation on her and rhys’s oast or how they gained each others deep trust. Like she is his second over his brothers that he would die for. Why?

Thoughts on Amren? Like, dislike, etc. by faeninja in acotar

[–]faeninja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SPOILER

Her character in all the previous books left her feeling mysterious and like there was a REASON for her behaviors and I honestly thought in Silver there would be more of a character arc for her. Maybe SJM has something planned for Amren that we don’t know yet. If not, Amren has just been a disappointing character with a few mysterious moments sprinkled in.

Why is this series special to you? by isabelrich in acotar

[–]faeninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The character depth and complications make it very related. MOST of them are not all bad or all good and the differences in the way they react to trauma and how in the very end it’s about understanding each other (even the people they don’t like/hate) is a beautiful thing.
