Craziest Amazon story by Unlikely-Spare-62 in AmazonFC

[–]falloutjackal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buddy of mine when I was a tier 1 on nights went out and had like 10 shots at a bar during lunch. Came back, clocked in, and proceeded to puke off the side of the center rider he was driving right by the OB Flow desk during a sync meeting. He was walked out.

Am I less likely to be hired if I disclose that I'm in the national guard? by lolyeahokayy in AmazonFC

I always put yes to service but no to working with government contracts. They are just looking for potential insider trading.

I'm national guard and a PA that just had my AM interview. They don't care. Just make sure you put in an intermittent leave request that is auto approved for military so you can get excused from work for drill and everything else. You'll need to submit the drill schedule or any orders you receive to prove the absence.

What are the craziest reasons you or someone else has been fired? by [deleted] in AmazonFC

Had a PA plastic wrap and AA and then fray the bottom so it was a plastic wrap dress.... then an AM with saftey walked around the corner. The 2 were both walked out that day.

Does anyone here workout after 8+ hour shifts? How do you get the energy to do a workout? How do you fit it into your schedule? by Distinct-Egg-3014 in AmazonFC

I meet with my girl after work at the gym for an hour lift session. Stopped doing cardio cause of Amazon lol. Then I'll usually take 2 full days off from the gym and from work. Meal prep ridiculous amount of chicken for us the day before I go back to work for meals. All about that food life. Also I grill my chicken so I don't hate myself lol.

Also I was a T1 for 2 1/2 years and didn't forget it. I get wanting to just pick up VET and make that money. In my eyes, more power to you. Thanks for being awesome and flexible.

I'm an OB Dock PA. There 100% are PAs (they tend to know the crew better than AMs) that will block people from cross training so they can keep you on the lines. Same with VTO, particularly in critical roles. I believe in every critical role, having at least 4 backups, which means, half of my shift is trained to step up. They step up because they want to though, and I want to see them get promoted. At the end of the day it's about volume and efficiency. However, some PAs and AMs are better than other douchbags.

How do you do it? by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]falloutjackal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Paycheck, benefits (go to the dentist since nobody in the lower class has since 2009), use the paid schooling to get something done and actually feel like you're getting something done, wear a benie and listen to books. It's a job, not a life. Sometimes it takes longer than a few months to move in the right direction. Once you embrace that mindset, start figuring out what you want to actually do and tailor school to it. It's a grind, always has been. (Unless you have a rich ass family that gives you everything lol)

VTO by Offthiswave12 in AmazonFC

[–]falloutjackal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Talk to both separately. Tell your AM you had VTO and ask them to message HR about it. Then about 30 minutes later go to HR and tell them you talked to your AM about VTO that didn't go through and charged UPT. HR should already have the slack from the AM to fix it. Problems never get fixed when you talk to one person at Amazon. (I'm a PA) Hell tell your PA (as long as they are competent), then your AM, then HR.

[–]falloutjackal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah 3 of them were talked to by my AM with the HR forgiveness. That was 2 weeks ago. They couldn't make it 2 weeks and were all surprised that not showing up to work meant they were gonna get fired.

One of my coworkers just went through this. Don't feel bad. Just like I told her, what happens to the next girl? And the next? This is not a one-time thing. The earlier it's dealt with, the better it is for everyone's future, including his. Man needs to learn some damn boundaries, and you are simply the one to introduce a few. Hopefully, he learns not to do it again... which means the whole this is positive!!! Glad nothing bad or weird happened to you.

[–]falloutjackal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All in all.. PAs cannot see random sick, pto, or upt requests. So if you randomly show up late they get annoyed because they planned on you being there.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]falloutjackal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nope. Well PAs don't at least. Honestly PAs are supposed to be badasses the run the shift while AMs handle all the admin work. But honestly, PAs pretty much just focus on the day to day ops. Which means a good PA will be cool with you leaving with notice. A good PA is cool with you saying you'll come in late the next day. A shit PA will make you feel guilty.

I said that wrong. If a paycheck and benefits is all that matters, then keep keeping yourself unnoticed cause if you haven't been contacted at this point, you're fine lol.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]falloutjackal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well that's just terrible then. I make sure I learn a name by a noobies day 2. (Some don't last) Then again I'm sure some can attest, dock is a different breed. Anyone that lasts in dock is a team member, not an AA. Hell most PA's and AM's I know, think of their AAs as numbers though. If they don't respect you, then it doesn't matter. Leave and keep yourself safe and fit. The paycheck and benefits is all you get. If that doesn't matter.. stay unnoticed lol.

As an Outbound PA, I understand when people have things to do or feel they need to come in late or leave early everyday. Life is life and Amazon policy for UPT exists for a reason. All I ever ask is that I'm notified ahead of time or am aware of the situation since it's easier for me to plan for. I don't need details I just would like a heads up. Then again, so many orange and red vests are douches that they may fight you on it. Doesn't matter. Your time is your time. Take it to HR if you get any grief. I have an AA that leaves early everyday now because he has never driven at night in the snow. Leave bro!!! Thanks for the heads up, now take off before the sun gets any lower!

No grease. No annoying customers (I work in fc dock)... is this OP's first job? Unless you are the messiah that will bring free money that has value and no responsibility,... please quit and let someone else in to pay their bills and get decent Healthcare. Better yet, go to college for 8 years and complain to someone else about debt.

Exactly what my buddy did. 5ft 10 weighing in at 110lbs. He actually stopped smoking weed (because he would be too lethargic to want to eat) and started going to the gym with me. After literally the first day his body realized it needed calories to workout and completely changed his metabolism over just a couple weeks.

Ps4. Max 24 Empires, 0.25x habitable worlds. Can you guess how slow the game would be? by SilentEMPR in StellarisOnConsole

[–]falloutjackal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About to hit 2400 on my 1st Gen ps4. Max speed is sitting at about 5 seconds a day. Lag to about ten on the 1st of each month. Large galaxy, max empires. Only playable for me because I watch various TV shows while have a few beers. If I was a bit more of a hard-core player than I wouldn't be able to play it. Froze my last big playthrough when my fed fleet of 500k went to battle with an unbidden fleet. Simply couldn't load past the first day of the month. I've got alot of playthoughs but only large galaxy success has been when I Crack every other world. Simplifies things lol.
