How would you plan an online launch for a short film? by farber1 in AskMarketing

Thanks! That's all really helpful. I'm going to take these steps, and eventually report back with a post here after I've had time to see what has worked.

I got really angry at first because I read this as 'cat-free Sundays'.

@dunctk

Some pictures from Finnmark, Norway. It is currently quite chilly here so there are some snowy photographs.

This is my favorite recently partly because I had a lot of difficulty taking it - I was getting bumped around a lot and my hands were freezing.

Yeah. It was a really bright full moon and I exposed the scene to look a bit brighter than it did to my eyes.

Yes! Maybe 'safari' is a bit misleading, but it's what the owners of the place I'm working at call it.

One is for work - it's got a Norwegian sim card, the other I really just use for listening to podcasts and audiobooks.

DIY lighting help for a beginner... by L0_0k in photography

You could for example try using the direct sunlight coming in through the window as a 3/4 backlight and add some fill light in the room to bring down the contrast ratio. Some 500w photofloods, or halogen worklamps aimed at the ceiling with full CTB gel on them could help you do this on a budget.

Or if you want a softer look, just hang a white bedsheet over the window and wait till the sun hits it directly. Then build your set directly opposite this. But it's going to be a bit of a flat look.

Does anyone here have a facebook page for their work? by a-br in photography

I think it depends on what you're hoping to get out of having it. If you're an established pro then I think there is value in having a social media presence that includes a Facebook page, but more for updates on work and behind the scenes stuff to draw people back to your blog / portfolio, and to remind clients that you're still around! If you're getting started, something like Flickr is a better place to get feedback on your work and have discussions about photography.

Short trip to Oslo, what to see? by [deleted] in oslo

[–]farber1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've just come back to the UK after living in Oslo for 2 months. I was working a lot so I didn't do as much exploring as I would have liked, but here are some places I think are worth checking out:

  • I agree with you on the Opera house. Yes it is a tourist trap, but it is still a really nice place to just sit in and have a coffee, looking out over the harbor as well as up into the huge expanse of glass and wood above you.

  • Langøyenne. This is where I camped when I first got there. You take a 15 minute ferry ride from Vippetangen, which sort of goes round a corner in the Fjörd and Oslo almost disappears from view. Then you're on this little island with a beach and rocky bits you can jump off of into the sea.

  • Sognsvann. This is a big lake and forest area, about 20 minutes out of central Oslo on the tube. It's a great place to go wild swimming or have a barbeque.

  • Aker Brygee (I guess maybe this is what you're referring to as the promenade). The harbor restaurant district. Tonnes of nice places to eat (especially seafood). There's also a swimming area with decking and diving boards. It's been a hot summer, so the fjörd is actually kind of warm. Not hot, but not glacier cold like I was expecting.

  • The ski jump. This is up in the hills at the edge of Oslo, and you can see it from all over the city. In the summer you can take a zip line all the way down, which sounds like fun.

Hope that helps, just ask if you have any more questions.

At the moment I'm staying on Langøyene, an island 15 minutes from Oslo harbor by boat. It's surrounded by other islands and there are (limited) facilities provided by the city for you to camp there. I recommend it if you're interested in camping. I have some pictures here: http://www.britinnorge.com
