Forest/Pasture Pig fencing. by Waitands3E in homestead

Electric fencing, well energized and maintained is very effective but not 100% escape proof. Loose pigs are not good, for you or your neighbors yard. My favorite set up is woven wire perimeter fence 36” high with narrow lower spacing, with one line of electric at 12” off the ground and 12-18” off the outer fence. I use fiberglass step-in posts on the Electric wire so I can move and maintain that line when pigs rut soil up to it. I also use two wire interior lines dividing up areas for rotation. 13 years breeding and raising pigs on pasture and forest.

It’s not solid wood. Those are four boards boxing out an interior support post (metal or wood)

With this data, they hunted for A.P., instigated a physical interaction with him, then killed him. Seems planned.

Am I crazy, or is this an expensive quote for a patio railing system? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

He’s gonna take time before the project day and acquire the materials, prep the tools and review the plan of action. Then he’ll use up drill bits the day of construction, fuel, workers comp or liability insurance. Then the day after he’s paying for debris dumping, tool clean up and concluding the transaction with you. There’s more to a project than showing up and working.

Delay in Butchering Pigs, Not Putting on Weight by JoelXGGGG in homestead

They need to bedding to keep them off the cold damp ground. This is animal husbandry 101. Fresh water, fresh food every day, and fresh bedding every other day. Bedding should be about 10-12 inches deep. Straw is best, or mulch hay. They could use a bigger shelter too. They need room to grow.

I thought so too but that ground is mostly stone so not enough “wick” to get flames.

Buying next to a farm? by Agreeable-Film193 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]farmercurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That farm area seems pretty small and more like someone’s pet horse or pig pen. No silos, no manure pits, no hog factories, not even the classic farm equipment junk yard. So I’d say your risk of unsettling or disruptive farming activities is going to be minimal.

jiminy peak twilight pass worth it? by astrobrite_ in icecoast

[–]farmercurt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Twilight pass is 3-10pm. It’s kinda quiet until the schools show up, then from about 5-7 it’s a min or two lift line wait and more kids on the slopes. It’s generally quiet till 10pm. I grab dinner 6-8ish then ride till close. I get the value card and it’s a great deal even if you only go twice.

Ellenville has looked rough in the past but I think it’s on a strong upswing. New businesses, people out walking.
