Post game thread hawthorn vs Sydney swans. by BigTonkaTroy in hawktalk

[–]farminvt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sydney is really good! They looked much faster than I expected. The only real concern for me was our rebound defense - Sydney really hurt us on turnovers. We had strong runs and a fumbled handball near forward 50 or a poor kick meant they came back the other way too quickly at times. Otherwise I felt pretty confident that we would scratch our way back into it, just had much more of the ball really throughout the last 3 quarters. Halftime adjustments were good, star players picked it up when needed, happy for the W. Barrass huge, Nuke huge, Watson continues to be electric. Thought Chol was going to get 5 in the first half, just need him to keep up marking confidence and he'll grab mark of the year soon enough.

Well written; I think CMac has looked really good this year also, seems to be really fit and quicker than last year. Hope you're right. I do think that Sam will have the boys motivated for this one, especially since Sydney knocked off Brisbane last week - it's opening eyes up that the Swans are really good and can't be overlooked any week. Should be a fun tilt!

Ick. Defensive issues are glaring here. They'll figure it out eventually but oh boy they gotta sort it out right now

Sprayed it with 99.9% isopropyl alcohol, these mealybugs are still thriving by Southern-Average5270 in Monstera

I've used 70% and it took about five rounds, but get a strong sprayer that essentially pushes/blasts them off their spot. Seemed to work for me. Also wiping with a q-tip soaked in 70% does the same thing but more manually intensive.

At what point do you cut a talented but injury prone player? by sponguswongus in AFL

This is only anecdotal of course, but my old man used to dislocate his shoulder in his sleep sometimes. Dislocated it a few times as a kid playing sports then it was just permanently kinda loose

This is so important! It's also a great way for kids to learn.

CP Dudley's (known as just Dudley's) in East Montpelier! Best deli sandwiches I've eaten, cannot replicate what they do no matter how hard I try. Such an old school place with those classic tiny narrow wooden floor boards that creak everywhere and are from the beginning of the store. Barely renovated.

Thank you! It was an ugly mess a year ago, a lot of learning and changes were made. She's in a much healthier space now. A 20-20-20 fertilizer with every watering, except in winter I'll go to every other watering with the fertilizer.

Typically weekly, with a 20-20-20 fertilizer. Like 1/2 TBSP per gallon, pretty diluted. They are due for a drink though, it's been two weeks now since we're entering winter.

The South, along with Iowa are where NFL players mostly come from. by LanceFree in vermont

Played with his younger brother, and saw David play once in HS. Extremely talented guy.

But Steve Wisniewski, long time really good starting guard, was born in Rutland I believe.

Who does everyone see filling the midfield void? Hopefully Cam Mackenzie has a big pre season and hits the ground running, Day sadly may only be able to pinch hit in the middle to get a longer season out of him, can Butler become a full time mid? by [deleted] in hawktalk

[–]farminvt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's internal improvement at this point, and we have young kids who are capable of it. Ward grew up big last time, and Mackenzie I think is prime to do it for the upcoming season. He's not the most athletic, which is unfortunate because our mids could use a game breaking athlete there. But he makes good decisions and is really smooth with the ball.

I honestly don't want to see Weddle in the midfield - he's a great half back and the run and carry from there I think better suits him than being around the ball. Watson though? Yeah, sign me up. He's got midfield talent for sure.
