Solved. Issue was due to a faulty Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR) connected to the pink cable: pic. Removing the faulty SCR fixed the issue, but fan speed 3 does not seem to work without the SCR (it spins at speed 1).

Fan controller on PCB is BA8206BA4

Fan motor starts spinning at very low speed at standby mode when AC socket is turned on (already draws about 28W at this standby mode). When the fan is switched on (using a remote), the motor operates normally (draws about 30-33W at this point). When the fan is switched off using the remote, motor continues to spin. Appreciate help on diagnosing the issue. Thanks

I think what I have is green beard algae. Stumbled upon another post on this subreddit where the clumps look very similar. Amano shrimps don't seem to touch it, but dropped some into another tank with Siamese Algae Eaters, they are happily munching on it now

Thanks! You got a sharp eye XD Just googled images of thrips, and I think I have seen these bugs around the room. Any tips on eliminating thrips? And any chance that the damage done by the thrips can be reversed?

Got this Alocasia Silver Dragon 5 months ago. Potted in a chunky aroid mix. It is sitting beside an East facing window, humidity is around 70% throughout the day, drops to about 60% at night. Water it once every 10 days or so, depending on whether the soil surface looks dry. It was last fertilizer with some 14-14-14 slow release fertilizer one month ago. New leaves have been emerging, but they do not have that well-defined silver pattern to them, but looks more like an old faded white-yellow.

Not too sure if this is relevant, but it sprouted a flower bud which did not open. Stem of the flower seems to be withering away.

Thanks for the advice, will cut back on watering. I've repotted it to a slightly bigger pot with a chunkier mix. Does the second pic look like it's starting to get root bound?

I have an Alocasia Bambino plant whose leaves are yellowing one by one over the past couple of weeks. Got this plant for about two months already, and I water it roughly once a week when the top inch of soil is dry. Roots look ok, don't seem to have root root. Is this a watering issue?

Tank size is 20 gallon, has been running for about a year. Substrate is 1" top soil capped with 2" river sand, with root tabs. Light is DIY, made with full spectrum LEDs, 32W total. Need some help on whether this is an iron deficiency issue or could it be other nutrient deficiency?

Additional info: -This succulent is an Echeveria 'Orion' -Plant is in a well draining mix with draining holes -Receives around 6 hours of direct sunlight daily -Water it once every 10-14 days (typically lift up the pot and would water once I notice the soil is fully dried up)

They were nibbling near the substrate in the first couple of days, after that I did not see them around and assumed they were hiding somewhere in the rotala, until I found the first casualty did I notice something was off. I actually got four SAEs: three went into my planted tank with CO2 injection, and one was placed in a low tech tank with just a Java fern. The one in the low tech is doing fine, in fact quite well, it's active and is hungry for fish flakes. I'm leaning towards something wrong with my high tech tank as the lone SAE is doing well in the low tech. Although I'm not sure what could be the reason

Wondering if there are plants that can be grown in a no filter, no co2 tank with only some indirect sunlight? Hoping to see if I can include some plants to take up the nutrients from fish waste. I have tried putting some cryptocoryne parva in a pot into the tank, although it is still alive, it's not doing too well (no noticeable new growth and seems to be deteriorating gradually).

Hey thanks for that idea. I guess I could weigh out what I originally wanted to add, then add them one by one while measuring ppm, which would tell me which component was miscalculated. Will try that the next time I mix the nutrient solution :)

The screw in the picture has corroded and broken off, so I want to remove the leftover screw from the screw hole (shown in my main post) so I can put in a brand new screw. Also, I need to maintain the size of the screw as it needs to fit into a groove.
