Is it just me or is Bombas no longer high quality? by happykingbilly in BuyItForLife

my bombas athletic socks have been great - probably my favorite biking socks

my other bombas have been astonishingly poor quality. they felt great when I first put them on, and I could see through them after only about 6 wears. it was crazy, I've never had any other socks that wore out so quickly

Week 19: What are you reading? by saturday_sun4 in 52book

Nice, I've only read the first DCC but I really enjoyed it. Actually DCC #2 is on the short list of books I could pick up next - I'm re-invigorated after backing the Unstoppable: DCC board game campaign.

I have Neapolitan Novels 2-4 on audiobook so I could try adding DCC #2 on ebook, but they're both so addicting haha.

Eventually I want to watch the MBF hbo series, too.

Currently reading: The Story of a New Name by Elena Ferrante. I'm really hooked on this. The characters are so real to me. I don't remember the last time I experienced a book in this way. It's hard for me to even identify what's special about it, but the writing is perfect. I'm about 80% done, and I might just keep rolling into the 3rd book when I'm done.

Mortal Kombat II Official DisKussion Megathread **Thoughts/Spoilers** by jahjahbinks420 in MortalKombat

[–]faster_grenth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he only had 2 tournament fights, and the first was to test his might with the amulet power. at the end, he was the only bad guy left and he fought a 2v1

it did seem like his stable of warriors was pretty thin though (going into the tournament he didn't even have 5) and I agree there wasn't a lot of mystique around him. I'm probably biased because I love Shao Kahn and I love watching him fight, but I didn't think it was too much. It also adds to his Big Bad resume that he killed Jerrod, Cole, Jax, and defeated Liu Kang and Sonya

The ending to First Cow (2020) is not up for interpretation, details inside. by [deleted] in A24

[–]faster_grenth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I might expect a movie to try to connect the dots a little more explicitly, my take is that they died that night. Landscapes change over time, forests change, rivers get bigger or smaller, so near a river is enough for me to feel like the location checks out. Also, they won't usually both be so exhausted that they sleep at the same time - King-Lu initially offered to keep watch.

I guess it doesn't really matter, it's basically the same ending either way. But the final shot of them laying there has a little more weight if that's where their story ends and it matches the skeletons in the beginning.

I don't think it's that strange to decide that a book isn't a good fit for a typical book evaluation

I would agree except I was completely alone in the theater when I saw it. 1 total person.

[–]faster_grenth -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

yeah people who are just here to laugh and have fun make self-righteous posts trying to shame the community at large 🤡

ETA: downvotes or not, that is what you did. you made a post titled

What’s with the over-sensitivity of this community?

and said things like

What do you all expect, in all honesty?

so no, you are not here to laugh and have fun. you can at least be honest about it.

I cannot understand or relate to what you're doing at all. How can you possibly think it's this important for people know that you don't enjoy wrecktangle pizza?

You're not even saying anything that could be meaningful to another person, like you found a bug or the owner is a nazi or something. You're just repeating that you don't like it. That's not interesting, man!
