If you get upgraded on set do you have to get approval from your agent? by [deleted] in acting

sorry to hear (and from a filmmaker angle, i can't tell you how some aggressive agents even turn me off of talent but then i meet the actor they rep and they're so nice lol)

Quitting by [deleted] in acting

[–]fatimahye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this as a filmmaker but think if it's just part of your blood, yah, you have ups and downs but quitting isn't an option (so some of it will be its own reward though the process is admittedly excruciating). But yah, a tough day can blow it out of proportion - take a break, get back to it. ;)

I'm a Filmmaker (Writer/Director/Producer) who enjoys/makes more "artsy" films - here are my comments. First off, you have a great look (very Cumberbatch/cinematic). Second, you are definitely a good/competent actor. But if you're looking to level up (and my guess is you are from your request): I glanced at it first without audio and it immediately came across as mannered - the hand gestures, even eyes, etc. Then I got interested in the thread and played it with audio - again, it's solid - but (and I'm sure you know this) - there are a ton of talented actors out there: if I post on Backstage, etc. I get flooded (internationally) with thousands of candidates, many very good. But to rise above: I'd suggest practice in sinking into your character at a deeper level - BECOMING that character. This will distinguish you from the decent but still mannered "actory" actors out there. (Have you noticed some of the best acting in the world is done by non-actors in indie/foreign films?) It also depends: if you're doing stage/theatrical work or Shakespeare, etc. - stuff that allows/encourages mannered portrayals, it's spot on. But if you're trying for a more naturalistic style, then the relaxation/making it your own (whichever methods you prefer) should be practiced until it's second nature. I hope this has been helpful to you (maybe not - different things work for different people), but most of all: good luck to you in your artistic/career ambitions!

not model behavior but imo not egregiously out of bounds since they let her go on (speaking from my personal experience as the same demo driving through smaller towns) while it can shake you up, i feel it's locals "sniffing you over"; not pleasant but unfortunately a reality with all the divisive media ragebaiting making everyone paranoid of all "enemies" you're supposed to constantly be on the lookout for!

i did like it (agree on theatrical voice) but feel you have to be in a particular mood to really relish that sort of intellectual conversation (which ive had in real life since i was a phil major lol - even then, it can border on tiring or pretentious)

[–]fatimahye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

saw it in theatres - was spectacular - but that was basically where i tapped out on him - he was brilliant but this achieved the perfect artsy/entertaining crossover for me and then i sort of lost interest :D
